Mamoru Miyano Learned to Drive Thanks to Initial D

Shin Gekijō-ban Initial D Legend 3 -Mugen-, the last film in the new Initial D trilogy, premiered on February 6. Mamoru Miyano, who plays the main character, Takumi Fujiwara, attended a screening at the Shinjuku Piccadilly theater in Tokyo, along with Daisuke Ono (Ryōsuke Takahashi), Yūichi Nakamura (Keisuke Takahashi), Minoru Shiraishi (Itsuki Takeuchi), Tomohito Naka (the director), and Hiroaki Matsuura (the CG director at SANZIGEN Animation Studio).
At the event, Miyano confessed that he did not have a driver's license when he made Legend 1 -Kakusei-, the first film in the trilogy. "I thought, 'Is it right for me to do this if I don't have a license?' I decided to get a license by Legend 3, and I did."
Regarding the events of the movie, Miyano said "Takumi finds his dream, and I was moved by his passionate process of growth." He also was excited about Takumi and Natsuki's kissing scene, and said he "did it while blushing along with [Maaya] Uchida [who plays Natsuki]."
Shuuichi Shigeno, the artist behind the Initial D manga, has expressed interest in doing a manga about rally racing. Miyano's doodles have recently been turned into plushies, one of which is kissing.
