New Wake Up, Girls! Anime Short's Title, World Premiere, New Character Revealed

The official website for the Wake Up, Girls! franchise posted more details and images from the new anime short. The "Wake Up, Girls! no Miyagi PR Yarasete Kudasai!" (Wake Up, Girls! Please Let Us Promote Miyagi!) short is part of a larger "Wake Up, Miyagi! Fure-Ai Project in Taiwan" campaign to promote Miyagi (the anime's home prefecture) as a tourist destination to Taiwanese visitors. Below is the key visual for the campaign:
Both this visual and the anime short itself features Minase Mori, the image character (voiced by Airi Eino) of Miyagi's Sendai Airport Transit in the nationwide Tetsudō Musume (Railway Girl) campaign.
The short is debuting at the Taipei International Comics & Animation Festival, which is running from Wednesday through Sunday. Director Yutaka Yamamoto and cast members Airi Eino, Yoshino Aoyama, Miyu Takagi, and Kaori Fukuhara are appearing a talk event at the festival on Thursday. The short will then play at the "Wake Up, Miyagi! Fure-Ai Project" special mini-live event at Sendai Airport on March 27.
The short anime that highlights Miyagi's Tanabata festival and shows the characters wearing yukata. The short also highlights the sights, local cuisine, and culture of Miyagi Prefecture.

In the story of the original anime, Green Leaves Entertainment is a tiny production company on the verge of going out of business in Sendai, the biggest city in Japan's northeastern Tohoku region. The agency once managed the careers of magicians, photo idols, fortune-tellers, and other entertainers, but its last remaining client finally quit. The television anime premiered in Japan in January 2014 along with a limited theatrical run. Crunchyroll streamed the series outside of Japan alongside the Chinese media services Tudou and Youku. Two sequel films, Wake Up, Girls! Seishun no Kage and Wake Up, Girls! Beyond the Bottom, opened on September 25 and December 11, respectively. The franchise also includes the original net anime spinoff Wake Up, Girl Zoo!
The Wake Up, Girls! idol project announced a new project with rival group I-1 Club in December.
