Crunchyroll to Stream Nobunaga Concerto TV Anime

Crunchyroll announced on Friday that it will stream the television anime of Ayumi Ishii's historical manga Nobunaga Concerto. The series will stream on Wednesdays at 1:00 a.m. EDT, starting on July 16 for premium members and one week later for free members. The stream will be available worldwide except for Asia.

Crunchyroll describes the story:

Due to some unlikely events, Saburo is flung back in time to the Sengoku Era. In the past, he meets a young, but sickly Oda Nobunaga, one of Japan's greatest war lords. Unable to shake Saburo's uncanny resemblance to himself, Nobunaga asks Saburo to take his place as war lord. Equip with knowledge from the modern era, will Saburo be able to unite Japan?

Fuji TV began streaming the first teaser video for the upcoming projects. The video previews the first public footage with voices from the television anime premiering in July. It also outlines the premise.

Yūki Kaji will voice Nobunaga and Mamoru Miyano will voice Saburō.

Yūsuke Fujikawa is directing the anime off scripts written by Natsuko Takahashi (Antique Bakery, Uragiri wa Boku no Namae o Shitteiru, Moyashimon), and Masaru Yokoyama (Arakawa Under the Bridge, Nobunaga The Fool, Joshiraku) is scoring the music.

The anime premiered in Japan on July 11, followed by an upcoming live-action series in October and a live-action movie later.

Ishii launched the manga in the inaugural issue of Gessan in 2009, and Shogakukan published the 10th compiled volume in May. The manga ranked #10 in the Male Readers category of the "Kono Manga ga Sugoi!" list by Takarajimasha Inc. in 2012. The manga was nominated for the fifth Manga Taisho awards in 2012, and it won the Boys' Category of the 57th Shogakukan Manga Awards later that year.
