Hyped just knowing Studio Mir's doing it. Amazing animators.

"The series will also have a Princess Allura, who Montgomery explained will be more realistic and "certainly not fainting at Every Little Thing that overwhelms her." "

accidentally tagged the band Every Little Thing lol.

I have to say, the trailer did not get me excited at all. Everything looks way too "Clean"

Um, I believe you mean "Neil Kaplan as King Zarkon"?

Anyway, never was a Voltron fan, although they seem to be fleshing out characters which is good. Also, great to see Josh Keaton; haven't heard from him in a while.

Of the sudden "revival" projects suddenly announced, the voltron one at least sounds like it has the potential to be "ok" instead "who even thought this would ever work out?"

Flash/CG limitations I imagine, though I'm more concerned with the blantant GGG reference in the trailer which indicates it'll be one of those show that focus more proving their street cred with references to other series than focuing on their own. Also race-lifting Fara seems... forced, and ironic.

I know I am not the target audience for this show.

But...

I looked up other things about it to try to find character designs. I did find a picture of the main guys. None of them are attractive. I don't think I would be able to sit through this show.

Like, maybe the red one and the short one with the glasses could pass for something, but no.

Just... please world... there's a pretty-boy shortage right now. Please stop giving us gross, ordinary looking guys. (Ordinary for Americans, at least. If you go to Tokyo or a lot of European cities, most of the guys will look better than that.)

I keep hoping that a greater influence of anime on mainstream/American media will spread the pretty-boys thing, not shrink it.

Whoever made this seems to be a big fan of GaoGaiGar.

That automatically gives me a lot more hope than the trainwreck that was Voltron Force. Not so sure about having Lance resemble Sokka, but I'm willing to blame Korra's failures on the head writer, not the guy in charge of this project.

Finding fictional characters attractive isn't considered normal in the American media scene. Or maybe I should say profitable instead. That's why Western animation doesn't design sexy characters in general. Talking specifically pretty-boy characters, they are considered undesirable and not relatable to boys generally which is the show's main concern. The notion of targetting one gender and designing the characters to appeal to the other (fujoshi) isn't a marketing practice here like in anime.

To be totally honest, you can't tell me that the design of Voltron in Force looked any worse than this.

Can't say I'm a great fan of Voltron, but I did like it when I was a kid. Will give this a try for sure, but not particularly hyped.

Force looked way worse. The humans looked a lot worse, and the robot at least has some connectivity to the foreground. Besides, it feels like the people who made this actually seem to get mecha, while Force assumes that there hasn't been a single show with a giant robot besides the original Voltron.

King Zarkon as Neil Kaplan

It's nice to see King Zarkon getting work again, it's been a long time. Although, I don't remember there being a Neil Kaplan in the original anime, I guess he's a new character.

Given the fact this is the *third* attempt at a Voltron reboot by an American company, I have less than zero hope this will be good.

Gao Gai Gar was an excellent kid's story. I just wish the transformation sequence in Voltron wasn't so mundane. We need epic music dammit to complement the transforming robot.
