About once or twice a year, I find myself putting off watching the last few episodes of an anime series for an unreasonably long time. It's almost never because the show is bad, but rather because I have a subconscious desire for it to not be over yet.

For me it is kind of the opposite. Once a series reaches its final month, I cannot wait to watch the last episode because I want to see if it lands the conclusion. Even if I am enjoying a show a lot, learning whether it will have a satisfactory ending becomes a high priority.

Lately I have found that I enjoy anime series the most during rewatchings.

I've been putting off anime endings... such examples include Log Horizon 2, Food Wars and a number of others... because I know they won't or don't have endings. I think the number of complete shows, even anime originals, have gone so far down into the minority that an actual thematic conclusion is the least expected outcome. Does that mean Classroom Crisis expected a continuation in another medium, another season or that the creators didn't have any answers?

Wait, I know this one; "Yes, yes and yes but that's just right now. We have answers, just don't ask us any questions about it." It's the same thing happening in American movies these days... but that's a story for another time. "Are we getting a sequel? We are? Well, hopefully, the audience will forget it by then and we can just raise more questions. Different questions or if we can get away with it, the same questions. Why not, we got away by doing the same plot." A certain franchise from 2015.

Still better than shows like Blood Lad and Seraph of the End where they never even get to the starting line. "What's the Seraph of the End?" Season 1: "... Don't know?" "What's the Seraph of the End?" Season 2: "Why it's the main character!" "Ok but what does that mean?" Season 2: "... that the series is named after him?" Season 1: "Shouldn't that be Mika? I thought he'd be important." Season 2: "Silence, I have spoken!"

And so on. Blood Lad didn't even bother with that much development.

Did you forget the question by now? Good, I'll explain why all this is later. Because obliqueness equals profundity. Or is it that the glass is actually empty but nobody wants to tell the Emperor he's buck naked?

In an unrelated note, I'm not exactly hopeful about Attack on Titan offering satis... any answers. Just more questions.

Seeing that "Rental" rating, I was thinking, wouldn't streaming be the modern equivalent of rental? As in "pay a little to watch once, but not enough to own"? So maybe, for anime that are available streaming, the rating should be named "Streaming". Or maybe call it that in all cases; it's not like rental is an option for anything nowadays.

If there's one undeniably plus about C^3, it's the great OP.

I still listen to it, even years after the LN series ended.

I thought C^3 had potential with the first episode. It seemed like it was going to be a pretty dark show. But after that it turned into a typical girl is in love at first sight with the oblivious main male character fanservicey anime.

I was definitely glad I streamed this as opposed to buying it.

Only two releases this week, huh? This sure feels weird after a couple weeks with more.

Released in 2011, C³ is one of the earlier entries in the currently inescapable based-on-a-light-novel genre.
What is this label supposed to mean? The "based-on-a-manga genre" has been inescapable for a lot longer, and it's certainly not lacking for clunkers or clichéd harem setups either. Yet I've never seen "this show has all the hallmarks of being a manga adaptation" used as an overarching criticism the way "based on LN" or "based on dating-sim/VN" have been. If anything, C^3 does suffer from "12-episode LN commercial syndrome" (way to just stand there spoiler[as the villains slowly sail away on a boat], girls with supernatural powers!), but manga adaptations are equally guilty of the equivalent syndrome.

If you feel your tastes are in line with mine, stay away from this, but if you're into the Baka to Tests and Certain Magical Indexes of the world, maybe give this a shot.

Tell us how you really feel, when it comes to Baka and Index. Laughing

On the ending of anime series, the way it ends is all important to me. I've had people say to me that if I enjoyed the "journey", my dislike of the "destination" is harsh on a show. But, I like what I like. And, if you're not able to come up with a satisfying end to your show, then you lose marks in my book. I'm not expecting all my questions to be answered, but if I sense no finality in any aspect of the show, the end falls flat.

So much so that, now, I won't even touch an older anime series if I know that it has an open ending. C3 (along with Dream Eater Mary and Aria the Scarlet Ammo) was a show I checked out before I started looking into the endings of shows. And, I enjoyed it more than our reviewer, but the ending left me disappointed.

I had a list of older anime that I wanted to check out, but after being disappointed by some of the first I decided to sample (which was mostly down to them being 12-13 episode series, rather than ratings), I started looking into the endings of series. At the time, I didn't realise that having an open end was more the norm than something rare. After finding that out, my list shrunk considerably.

As for simulcasts, I don't end up watching anything until they're about 3-4 episodes in. After seeing those, the ones I stick with end up stacking up again. It won't be until episode 9 or 10 that I follow a show on a weekly basis. Once it's getting to the climax, I have to watch it week-to-week.

And then, there are sequels. Someone mentioned Log Horizon, and I've yet to even start the 2nd season. I enjoyed the first, but I hadn't gotten around to watching it until the 2nd season was announced. Now, I probably won't end up checking out the 2nd season until a 3rd is announced, because I didn't end up watching it as it was simulcast. I'm actually unsure why I put that one off.

If there is no 3rd season, then LH2 will remain a name on a list. Something I may get around to...if I were to finish the anime I want to watch. Though, I just know it'll be a show that I'll keep shoving down the list as others come along, be they new ones or ones I just hear about at a later date.

Haruaki is one of the blandest leads I've encountered in a while. I honestly kept forgetting that he was in the show.

Fair enough, but at least we are spared the more low antics of male harem leads. And although he doesn't seem to do a whole lot he has a pretty good feel of steadiness which is something that a creature like Fear or her peers would actually need. No bleeding noses: plus. Able to fight when needed: plus. Doesn't overreact when a girl presses in on him: plus. Sometimes bland is a good thing.

As for the fan service, it was there just now and then but mostly forgettable. They didn't even have a hot spring episode or a beach episode or a mishap in the bath. The girls did get in barrel baths once but didn't show anything.

I rather liked the opening credits and music. Also the CGI battle artwork was pretty well done and interesting.

I remember this one.
The first time i read the plot introduction it seems kind of strange to me. Another thing i remember was after i watch the first preview video i was like " What! A tsundere that is not voiced by Kugimiya Rie!?"
I give it a try and was not disappointed.
The back stories of the cursed artifacts where interesting and the music was great.

It was a shame that it has one of those shows that when we get really into the plot, the season ended and there was not another season.

I would recommend Fruit of Grisaia but I would most recommend its sequel(s), Labyrinth and Eden, as the girls' arcs aside from Angelic Howl are a little rushed in Fruit but not in Labyrinth and Eden. In my opinion, it is one of the best VN adaptations, below only Fate.

I watched C^3 as it aired. I don't remember it being all that good, but it was good enough for me to watch all the way through. Its OP was good though. Like Zalis I take issue with based on LN being called a genre, but LNs are more similar to each other than mangas are to each other.

While I can't deny the proliferation of Lolis and lolicon fanservice (and Yuri) in Prisma Illya, it is a bit reductive to call it a lolicon show. It would say it functions as a magical girl parody (at least in the first season) and fanservice for Fate fans seeing characters in a different setting/genre like Pretty Sammy was for Tenchi. The action scenes are well done as well. Obviously people can be off put by the lolicon elements and that can outweigh the other stuff, so I can't hold that against people.

Now that I think of it, Monogatari has three lolis (Mayoi, Shinobu, and Yotsugi, though all are of the eternal variety), and Nadeko, Tsukihi, and Karen are a bit young as well. Though to be fair to Shimbo, it's not like he created the characters.
