[ note: previous discussion (of season 1) was here ]

I guess this means UranusClass is going straight to Episode reviews, not that I'm complaining. The comedy is just as good as the last season. It's good they don't spend much time on shipping the students and get straight to the most compelling ship, Irina and Karasuma. That segment features the only example of a girl manspreading that I know of. I don't really want to know what goldfish taste like.

You need to get out more often. Laughing Off the top of my head, Integra Hellsing and Melissa from FMP. The tougher women in anime often sit that way.

I also liked the focus on Irina and Karasuma. Theirs is the only romantic relationship at this point that matters to me. The kids are too busy with other things. Like eating goldfish. ... *Gag*

I haven't seen too much of hellsing and I've only seen the second season of FMP like 4-5 years ago. Girls are way better at manspreading than men, both in space taken up and convincing people to move on. If I saw a guy manspreading, I'd probably ask them to take up less space. If I saw a girl doing a split on two seats, I'd find a different space. She seems like she wants it more.

...this follow-up will have to maintain that level of quality if it wants to stack up well against a new crop of would-be hit shows.

And people die when they are killed.

That entire first paragraph was nothing but padding. Smile Fortunately the rest of the review was up to standards, and although the episode grade was a bit higher than I gave it, I agree that it was a decent segue back into the series.

@sunflower: Nope, I've never seen Integra do the splits to take up space. Very Happy Her aura claims all the space she needs.

I've also seen plenty of cases in real life. Then again, girls don't wear skirts nearly as often here as they do in anime.

It's also nice to see a rare unguarded moment from Irina,

Also nice to see the class actually being nice to her, even though they still call her prof B. As for the unguarded moment I thought she actually looked quite fetching this time.

As for the review, why no mention for what happened to Irina's mentor?

Sadly, it turns out that my favorite female class member, Rio, is too pragmatic to be interested in any romance. Story of my life...

Is it just me, or was cel shading fairly abundant in episode 24? It didn't look terrible, but I'm not sure I'd like to see it on a regular basis.

appears to be heading toward a serious fight scene, and these have never really been the show's strong point.

Beg to differ with you, big guy. AC seems to be able to get serious when it wants to be. Granted not that often but they can do it big and they can do it small. The "big" of course was Nagisa's showdown that ended last season. The "small" includes any number of examples, from Karma's street fighting in Kyoto (he actually didn't win that time) to Rio's under-appreciated Chinatown move during exam week.

I haven't seen a "serious" scene botched yet in AC so I don't know where that is coming from. Bloody death or even hospitalization isn't the show's focus, that's all.

Episode 2.3

I keep getting the feeling that Shiro is another sort of "brother" to Sensei. Those tiny red eyes are the same as Sensei's except red, and who knows what he's hiding under all those layers of hoodie.

I hope so, because he's my "that one character I just can't with" with this show. He's just so MUAHAHAHAHAHAHA and groan-inducingly boring. Also, basically everything he does completely invalidates the entire premise of the show, so, there's that.

I'm not sure if Itona's headband is a long-term fashion choice or just a temporary solution in the aftermath of his mutant meltdown

Koro-sensei removed all the tentacles so the reason he's wearing it is sentimental. It was given to him by his new friends so he keeps wearing it.

This episode was nice and fun.

The ultra-rare Japanese Otter didn't disappoint.

As far as names go, I'd rather everyone call each other by their given names in anime. Japanese surnames are sometimes annoying to pronounce and I find it weird that most characters in anime get mad at being called by their first name.
