You mean episode 1-51 not 1-151 unless I missed 100 episodes, Lol.

Wasn't there a boxset that included both the 2003 series and Brotherhood?

Oh yeah, by the way, Funimation is losing the rights of FMA 2003 with a concrete date now. That's actual news so, huh... Paid ad?

I already bought the BD last year so I'm set but hiding the news inside the "Hey, we still have this huge white elephant" Barnum sale notice is pretty sneaky. Look, it's not even in the title.

For all their cheap and/or impractical deluxe boxes Funimation has released, this Fullmetal Alchemist BD set is spectacular. I wish they had released another set as amazing as this one for Brotherhood.

And Funimation is also losing FMA 2003 after all. And I know that fans had 10 long years to buy the show on disc, but it would be a shame if Aniplex USA never rereleases it.

I am intrigued. What is this organization that awards anime collections sets? I wonder if Sentai's Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun LE set is in the running for best set of 2016. Wink

Thanks to a savvy user on Hulu, most of Aniplex's expiration dates were leaked months ago, so some of us had known this was going to happen for quite a while now.

Here's a peek at what future titles will be expiring and when. The next Funi show to expire will be Birdy the Mighty Decode in October:

Full disclosure, I designed this set.

The awards won were a Dallas ADDY (gold), district ADDY (gold), national ADDY (we're still waiting to hear what level it won), MarCom (platinum), and it was accepted into the DSVC show. All of these award shows are for graphic design and/or advertising, and FMA was submitted in the packaging design category. I wish there were awards specifically for anime packaging. I guess if the American Anime Awards were ever revived then that would be an opportunity.

Nope, and there never will be.

Sad that it's confirmed the original FMA is indeed expiring on July 31, 2016 (due to Aniplex refusing FUNi's renewal offer).

As for this CE, it's such a lovely set, and is one of the holy grails of my anime collection, it's completely worth getting. And for anyone going "it's overpriced", uh...

It's certainly a very pretty set, but I'm making do just fine with my basic Blu-ray set. I think I could have bought about 8 of those for the price of this one box, and they'd take up less shelf space in the long run. Razz

Tempting, but I already have it the regular complete series release. Still if there ever was a time to buy either one, it's now! Same for Brotherhood, though from what I know that's NOT expiring just yet...

It already expired. FUNimation warned people multiple times (I'd have to dig through their social media for it).

I bought my copy when it first came out, which was before Aniplex decided not to renew the license. I had wanted a blu-ray set since this series is my favorite, so this set was an easy call. It'll probably be cheaper than whatever Aniplex does down the road anyway.

Same. I had to do it for FMA.

This... actually seems like something they should fix. Some poor sap might see this and think they're getting FMA + FMA:Brotherhood + all the OAVs + all the movies.
