Geneon originally released Ergo Proxy IIRC and not funimation.

Man. I'm still waiting for Funi to release Crest of the Stars and Ryvius.!!! COME ON.

Looking forward to that Ergo Proxy Blu-ray. Almost got the import a number of times, but the price just keeps climbing. Not quite willing to spend $800 for the show. It would be nice if this wasn't just a barebones Blu-ray set, but it likely will. I'm surprised it's getting this release at all.

Seraph's set sounds awesome too. Too bad I didn't really enjoy the show very much. I really like a lot of the people working on it, and some of it was stunningly beautiful, so I really would like that artbook, but I don't think I can justify getting it just for that...

Different company. Rightstuf has the rights to that one, not Funimation. Expect it sometime in the next two years, judging by the pace of their Gundam releases so far.

OK, I have to ask now - are those two guys (the blonde and black hair dudes) actually in love with each other in the series? I've seen a ton of fan art about them, but I've only seen the first episode of Seraph and was quickly bored. Just curious.

I really hope when they do announce the release of the Stars series they also announce they have acquired Banner of the Stars 3.

I didn't know Seraph was popular enough to get the royal treatment. Other people must have liked it a hell of a lot better then I did. Razz

I'm satisfied with my old Ergo Proxy thinpak, but I wouldn't mind moving up to Blu-ray if they do a little more than a bare bones release. At least give me something to get me interested. If I remember correctly the JPN version came with a nice box and art booklet.

Taken at face value, they share a platonic kind of love. Beyond that, there's a lot of subtext, but less than something like Free.

The manga and light novels are doing fairly well, and the simulcast supposedly had a big audience.

I'm so confused with the mess they are doing with Seraph.

First they released regular and limited edition for part 1.
Now they release regular part 2, and a collector's edition with both part 1 and 2 included.
But no limited part 2. So if you bought limited part 1, you can only either buy the regular version part 2 (and have mismatching versions) or buy the collector's, and then you would have part 1 twice. So basically your limited edition part 1 is useless...?

I can only think that they regretted the fact that they didn't do a better edition before, and the collector's edition was their response to the UK collectors edition everyone was importing. Universal was selling the show for less money than Funi, and giving lots of extras that Funi didn't. Now I see they are using even the same artcards on this.

But still, they could at least have been a bit consistent and release a limited part 2, for the ones that bought part 1 already and don't want simple regular versions. But I guess it's better for them if you are forced to pay 150$, even if you get half the show by duplicate.

Gosh that is such a beautiful LE and might be one of the prettiest I've ever seen! Funimation is making sure I am broke this fall, I need this CE, The Haruhi CE and the Escaflowne CE! I've never seen any of those 4 series (Yuki-chan spin off is included with the Haruhi CE) so I'm really excited to see all of them once I own the CE's and especially Haruhi since I hear so many great things about it Anime smile

I also need to buy the Code Geass CE but unlike the above I have seen it and absolutely loved it so look forward to watching it again on bluray Anime smile

So much wonderful anime available to buy, so little money Anime cry

Funi hasn't released separate LE's for multi cour shows in years. I'm assuming the Seraph of the End LE Part 1 works the say way as every other multi cour show released in the past few years with a filler box made to be removed and have part 2 inserted in it's place. So the part 1 LE is actually the LE for an entire show its just that the 2nd cour is sold separately.

So simplified there are 3 ways to purchase this show. Buy the standard part 1 and 2 sets. Buy the LE part 1 set with space meant to hold the standard part 2 release or this newly announced CE that includes both halves.

Though I do agree it being a fiasco as many people probably bought the LE and now see a fancier CE.

I'm in the same boat as you. If the release is some sort of limited edition, then i'll have to buy it, but I won't worry about a bare bones blu ray release. If I read a review or comparison that says the blu-ray has incredibly better quality video, then i'd consider it. The series is 10 years old, after all.

You need to correct your article. Geneon Entertainment previously released Ergo Proxy in 2006 and then it was Funimation who distributed on their behalf in 2008. Afterwards Funimation officially acquired the license in 2012 and gave it a boxset same year.
