Please correct me if I'm terribly wrong, but does "voice remake" means a remake with new voice actors or does it mean something different?

The original amazing voice cast was the only saving grace of this show...why would they remake it and then NOT involve the original ones that made it watchable in the first place? :/

Usually when it's a remake, they just say remake. Here it seems they will re-dub the 2002 anime with new voices. |

It's good to hear that they will be streaming the show. After hearing this 2017 recast preview, I find myself still preferring the original voice cast. The original voice cast did a very good job. That said, I will not quibble too much as I am happy that it will be made more available via streaming. Not many people would have watched it when it was first shown and thus remember the original voice cast.

I didn't understand this!
I did hear of this anime but never watched it cause I don't like soccer but does the news means they're going to do anime remake or only new promo video with the new cast? this is so weird xD |

I don't see the point of redubbing like this. The old one was good enough. It feels like kind of disrespecting the previous casts (especially the main character voice actress)

I'm guessing this is a attempt to save money on royalty fees or getting around some contract stuff that they didn't want to deal with.

There's probably some sort of contract issue with the original cast, so to get this show up on streaming where it can actually make money for the producers again, they need to rerecord with a new cast in new contracts. They're redoing the theme songs as well, which probably means the original voice actress isn't allowing her voice to be used.
But I'm not the Answerman, just taking a guess based on what's been said. |

Okay, after a little more reading of the main character voice actress, it turned out that she is a bad news. Now I know why they decided to redub it, especially since Whistle! is more kid-oriented.
She's apparently a gravure and AV idol who had issue with drug possesion. |

Redubbing a show with an entirely different cast is such an odd thing to do, but it looks like shiranehito nailed the reason why this is happening.
