This show is like Takahashi default auto pilot. Come on, all her other shows are full of life ... and death like mermaids forest. She must be on hiatus and the filler staff have been "Ganbatte-ing" it up.
The main character is blank. |

I disagree. Mermaid's Forest and (in its goriest parts) Inuyasha were clearly exceptions to Rumiko Takahashi "traditional" storytelling. Rinne & Sakura are more a Godai - Kyoko relationship (they do not dare to speak theeir feelings, until almost the very end) than loudy, always fighting Ranma-Akane or Ataru-Lum. I am not saying that Rinne is Maison Ikkoku, but certantly it's not a departure from her previous works. |

Ranma and Akane's relationship has always pissed me off. It felt like I wasted my time watching two teenagers who could barely stand each other fight constantly. Not to mention Akane's character was an annoying, supposit boy-hating bitch who couldn't cook. How is it she couldn't tell the difference between salt and sugar??? READ TO LABELS! |

And that, of course, is the joke. A lot of the show's humour is derived from Mamiya Sakura's unflappable reaction to virtually everything around her. It invariably cracks me up. My favourite line of hers was, "Oh, he's doomed," uttered in the same emotional pitch as if she was saying, "Oh, he's going to the store." I can see how some people might not dig it, though. And also, she's not quite a total blank as the last few episodes of the second season showed. She was genuinely upset over her misunderstanding that Rokudo only liked her for her money, although of course she expressed that in her typically laid back way. I find her to be one of the more unique female protagonists around, but I get how some people might prefer a livelier verson. |

You need to cut Akane some slack, labels can lie. When I homestayed in Japan I went to cook when the mother was out and needed some sugar. I found three different containers in the kitchen, labeled sugar, flour, and salt. All three were salt. The problem is the japanese word for salt is simply "shiro" also meaning white. So technically sugar and flour are both "shiro" but not salt. Well normally but not in this case. Seriously true story. Apart from that I'm still excited for a season three! Still a great comfort show to wake up and eat breakfast to, if not groundbreaking. ^^ |

Can anyone please explain to me why this anime hasn't had a dub already? Most of Rumiko Takahashi's works adapted into animes has had an English dub (Urusei Yatsura being the only exception). So why not this?
And don't tell me it's because Ocean Studios is out of business (or something like that). |

There is actually never a reason to ask this question. If a title doesn't get a dub there is only ever one reason and it's always the same one: the company that licenses the title (in this case, Sentai) does not believe it is economically viable to create one. Or put another way, it doesn't believe that the expense of producing a dub would be justified. They might be right, they might be wrong, but that is always the reason. I haven't crunched the numbers, but it seems like Sentai has gone back to releasing more sub-only titles like Rin-ne. If this is true, it is no doubt due to the fact that licensing fees have increased over the last number of years and Sentai is probably feeling the crunch. Producing dubs is one of the most expensive parts of releasing a title. |

It'll be a shame if "RIN-NE" doesn't get a dub. This seems like a pretty good show. And,I hope they do get Ocean to do it. They're pretty good at it.
