The battle scenes are well executed but after episode 2 I found myself saying "oh they have their Mio, Perrine, and Trude for this set up". Not a great sign but I will give them credit that they did make Hikari different enough from Yoshika to make it feel a complete retread.

She really dodged a bullet by not being stationed in Sumous, close to Haruka.

Wow... I hope that style of non-review isn't a preview of coming attractions.

Eh, I think the "pants" that two (or three) of them wear are just stockings. Though if they were actually pants, that just makes the no pants thing seem weirder. It is mostly pretext anyhow. Realistically, they would just have their uniforms have skirts instead of pants, and actually some of them do, which just evinces its pretextual nature.

Pretty good so far, I am looking forward to seeing the development of the younger sister.

For those of you who are already familiar with the franchise via Strike Witches, the first two episodes of Brave Witches could easily be summarized as “more of the same.”

Yap and that's a good thing as a fan of the franchise.

But the better thing of Brave Witches is that can bring a new generation of fans to the franchise.

I like that the series is close enough to the original to keep the feel in place. The fact that this new hero Hikari looks to have less power than Yoshika ever had. I also hope that at some point they have Yoshika drop in or some members from the 501st to encourage them. i am crossing my fingers to see how E 3 goes once Hikari enters training.

I think it will be Yoshika and Sakamoto because in ep1 Hikari reads a news paper report of how the 501st defeated the Neuroi Hive over Gallia with Sakamoto in it and then says(while looking at the photo, specifically at Yoshika) "Who is that?"

What I don't get is why the "reboot" when there was nothing wrong with the original cast. Two seasons, and nothing about the Neuroi is explained, so now we get another gaggle of girls to do the same thing the originals did.

Basically, this show is nothing more than an attempt to sell more body pillows and figures. Who cares about a story when merchandise is more important.

I'll pass. I enjoyed Strike Witches, but I'm ready for the story to continue, not a reboot.

I can see why you might call it a reboot. But a World War is a mighty big event and the 501 is just one small section of it.

I think they will continue the storyline to some degree, who knows they may have a greater plan for the end of the war.

Just remember how long it took for our WW II to end.

we know that the strike witches series was in 1944 the same time as the brave witch series. this brings me to believe that they are running in parallel to some degree. we also know that there were several witch striker groups around the world. so that makes it easy to accept that this is a parallel series.

i think the photo of Yoshika was from just about the time they first landed at the 501st. so she would be a complete unknown at that time. again this is just my pov but i think its correct.

The defeat of the Neuroi nest in Gallia (which happened in the first SW series) is referenced here, so this, at the least, takes place after SW1.

Well, it didn't take long for Nipa to live up to her reputation, did it? Laughing

According to the @w_witch_anime Twitter feed, episode 4 will be delayed one week due to tight production.

Fuso needs to rethink it's shipping routes. They get attacked by neruoi every damn time. I'm also not a fan of the 3dcg they're using for the combat scenes. I really enjoyed those in the previous series but going from the cell style to that is just jarring. At least the witches personalities are shaping up a little better than I expected. That's not saying much, but I'll keep watching.
