That's not all. The certificate of authenticity that comes with it has a typo on it, claiming that it's in celebration of the 10th anniversary of Escaflowne, when it's actually supposed to be the 20th:

Man, FUNi seems to be having a really tough year, it really does make you think that if they don't even have good quality control for their own titles, how on earth are they going to keep up with the Crunchyroll titles they will be distributing?

It is what happens when you prefer to hire friends or family instead of competent people.
That's really a lack of professionalism and respect.

Me neither, but given this I consider it a blessing in disguise. Hopefully they'll have this sorted out before shipping mine so I'll get the correct rewards delivered to me the first time around.

Funny thing, is that this is the second news tip that I've done for ANN.

The first was when Viz had a misprint with their disk covers on the first Sailor Moon limited edition.

Now the second tip is Funimation's screw up for their Kickstarter backers.

The difference between the 2 was that at least Viz acknowledge the complaints and issued a resolution way before it became a bigger issue.

I did end up getting mine after posting this so I guess no shipping notification. I was lucky mine came in very good condition. Although like everyone my certificate says 10th anniversary and I didn't get my DVDs.

This is nothing but a result of laziness (10th anni) and absolutely no Quality Checking. The only way for them to learn is by not supporting their KS stuff in the future. They've already shown they're not putting the money to proper use.

That's what we all said last year! It's no longer Funi just having a tough year, they are clearly having some major interior issues. Whatever the cause, they really need to get their sh*t together.

As for the CR deal, man, I hope it doesn't end up like this. I was hoping that they would be able to reorganize and reallocate resources to focus on dubs and releases with this new partnership, but we'll see, I guess. That's definitely my biggest concern. I was much more excited to see what CR would come up with for their own releases than having Funi put stuff out. I have literally 0 faith in their ability as a company right now. I've been at the tipping point ever since the Psycho-Pass box set, but it's been one thing after another since then.

I dropped out of this kickstarter after some of the initial drama started happening and I realized that the rightstuf store price was going to most likely end up way cheaper for basically the exact same thing(It was about $50 cheaper!), but I really hope the copy I ordered through rightstuf doesn't show up damaged.

My delivery came today, and luckily other than the 10/20 typo it looks like they got mine completely right. Course I won't know about the quality of the discs themselves until I have time to watch it, and that won't be for a few weeks yet, but at least there's no visible physical damage and nothing's missing.

Never supporting a Funimation Kickstarter again. They were deceptive about what would be exclusive to backers as opposed to people who purchased from a online retailer. It seems like all the backers get is a cheap, shitty necklace and some tarot cards. No real exclusive packaging or box. Apparently the backer collector's edition includes foil lettering instead of the standard black lettering but who gives a shit.

My only big problem with my Kickstarter is I did the $65 backer but later on I thought I upgraded to the $155 backer to the full set and movie due to wording when I filled my backerkit survey. Once I got the set while the contents were fine I got TWO copies of Eps. 1-13 Kickstarter box in addition to all the other things. I'm currently debating if I want to contact Funi about this or if I want use my various local anime club/convention connections to work something out among contacts and friends.

I am ReViewMeMedia and I sent in that press release to make noise for them Kickstarter backers because it happened to quite a few people, whoever's running the QA department needs to get fired, to botch not one but two major releases this year should be unaccceptable. I've been buying DVDs and blu-rays from them for years and only this year have I had issues with physical products, my disc cases have arrived broken on two seperate occasions.

I didn't participate in the KickStarter but I felt they needed to get a response from Funimation just like the people like me who are trying to get their Codes Geass blu-rays fixed.

... wasn't that the release where the video quality was abysmal and then Viz shamelessly denied the issue time and again, even when ANNCast pressed them on it?

Anyone who's ever ordered anything from FUNimation's online store shouldn't be surprised at all that items are arriving damaged. The third-party fulfillment outfit they use has no concept whatsoever of how to properly handle or safely package anything.

And since no one is receiving their DVDs, clearly there's been some sort of problem on FUNi's end, whether a delay in mass production or some technical flaw with the discs that they caught (though clearly we should all have our doubts about that sort of competence in light of Code Geass), and they had to delay shipping. The problem with that, obviously, is zero effort at communicating that was made, and they were posting pictures of the DVD set on social media as if to (unintentionally) rub salt in the wound. Poor handling all around.

Yes, everyone should totally be looking forward to their next possible Kickstarter, collector's edition release, or FUNiRoll collaboration launch products.

And people wonder why so many FUNi staffers jumped ship over the past couple of years.
