The writing continues to feel smoother than the average LN.

I heard the LN version of Shield Hero significantly rewrites and changes up the content from the source webnovel it was based on, going so far as to put in new content and new story arcs in later volumes.
I like this approach - not only does an editorial presence help trim unneccessary and repetitive wordings and otakuisms replete in most amateur LNs, but also gives established WN readers a different experience rereading the same source story.

I'm sure Rishia was supposed to be an annoying character but I couldn't help but laugh at nearly every scene with her in it. Since the book did make it clear that her annoyance and weakness comes from her criminally low self esteem and self worth.

All in all a good plot progressive book and the next two seems to be action packed based on the pictures I've seen which is nice since these last two were more character and story driven with fights only at the end. Can't wait for April!

at first that annoyed me, but after knowing what's the deal with brotoyasu, any alternate telling is a fun experience (even the manga *gasp*)

sounds like things are getting more interesting.
I now have to decide between reading the 5th volume now that's sitting on my shelf or waiting for the current arc to finish and then reading it in one go since I really dislike 'cliffhanger' endings.
The first arc for me was very enjoyable because I didn't have to wait to find out what happened next. I'm leaning towards waiting because by then hopefully I can put the review out of mind and be surprised by the events, I already can't remember much of the 5th book review.
I'm confident in my ability... to forget... wow that's more depressing than I thought.

I'm glad to read that this series is progressing so well. The trapped-in-a-fantasy-world set up is still quite effective when done properly, something that is proven by this; Grimgar; Re:Zero and KonoSuba among a few others, but is predominantly just a cash-in on a craze.

Thankfully that's not the case here, and it's actually telling a worthwhile story.

in ym experience the ones where the main character is a highschooler are the worse ones, making rezero and konosuba pretty nice exceptions; there are also a few that go for a very specific way of enjoying them, so those are also highly hit and miss; if you watched heavy object it's similar to that situation, I rememebr a specific one where the plot is pretty awful, but the mc uses his knowledge of the modern world to create modern weapons so he becomes strong even if he lacks magical power.

I'm considering picking up this series myself, so it's good to know it's going pretty strong.
