I honestly do have quite a bit more confidence in the live action Ghost in the Shell, and Netflix Death Note films than I do this thing.

I swear in all the casting news, I never even seen an Alphonse casting. Which makes me assume that on top of the all Japanese cast without changing anything about the setting making no sense, I assume they are looking to tell the story without one of its major characters.

I'm really interested in them telling the story in a single film. IMO, the manga / Brotherhood has a lot of fat on its bones from expanding the scope far beyond the Elrics to tell a sweeping epic (and have a nice decade-long run in Shonen Gangan). Could.a story primarily driven by Ed & Al's relationship fit in two hours? I'm eager to see.

@invalidname:
They were able to construct Space Battleship Yamato into a single film, so it's certainly not impossible. Again, for now just patiently waiting for the trailer.

Since FMA has largely a European-type setting and since that Japanese movie budgets are a lot lower than USA movie budgets, use the available white expats that you have.

The teaser trailer is up now. I can see why they picked Italy as a shooting location, it looks nice.
