I suspect the split in PoV is preparation for Kirito and Asuna eventually splitting ways depending on how long he plans to have Progressive go. That's the sort of thing it's best to set up sooner rather than later.

It also might be influence from the manga adaption. That spends a lot more time showcasing Asuna, and seems to be generally well received among fans of the franchise that read it. It would not be a surprise if that inspired Kawahara to improve on his own showing of Asuna.

I'm glad that Asuna's perspective here, despite my personal distaste for the character, has improved.

I've always stressed that Kawahara can write compelling female characters, something I've been saying since Lisbeth's short story in the second volume of the main series, and this just continues to cement that fact.

I'm also glad that it has done so much to make both of SAO's protagonists into much more believable people with their own reasons for being who they are, and providing plenty of room for growth for them.

I would honestly love for Progressive to continue and kind of rewrite some of the major events that occurred on the later floors, just so we can see them told from this far superior storytelling format that Kawahara has grown into.

With the overhate that this franchise receives, this and Alicization needs an anime adaptation to changes people´s minds

There's going to have to be at least some revision down the road, as the time that the two are spending together in the early levels doesn't completely jive with things that are said later in the story in the core novels.

As to this getting an anime adaptation? I just don't see that being feasible. I expect that Alicization (whose first novel comes out in English next month!) will be adapted eventually, as SAO it just too successful a franchise.for it to not happen eventually.
