Fujita's one of the best artists to never get translated; super glad to see someone finally take a chance on him. Hope it pays off!

So weird, some days ago I watched a video of this mangaka drawing

Wait, wait, wait. Is this the same guy who did Ushio and Tora? I mean, yeah, the anime remake had some strong horror vibes, but I just chocked it up to the 80's-90's shonen aesthetic. Nice to see that this guy apparently has range, though, and lots of it!
EDIT: Also, that video was awesome; loved seeing how the two had really, really different approaches to making manga. (There's also an episode devoted to Hagio Moto which makes me really, really excited to watch it.  )

Really nice review! I thought I should mention about anachronistic slang ... we actually had this script vetted by an expert in Victorian era literature to avoid just this problem. I was surprised at the of the revisions too, but all the language is period-accurate!

Thanks for letting us know about the slang! I had no idea that "hey" and "okay" were in use that early - I've only ever seen them in Edwardian novels. But then, I don't read many penny dreadfuls (though I admit a total weakness for sentimental and sensation novels), and I would guess that's where the literary written record would show up for that kind of slang. In any event, I really appreciate that kind of care in the translation and adaptation - it makes me feel even happier about the book.
