I had heard rumors of a new GeGeGe no Kitaro series in the works but this sheds a new light on the topic. I decided to look up further information and found an old interview from producer Shinji Shimizu dating back to 2004 where an original Kitaro series was being shopped around for non-Japanese audiences.
