This story sounds stupid. What does the Tower of Babel have to do with some random Japanese boy? Confused

My local blockbuster use to have this anime on VHS back in the 90's. I never saw it though.

You're like asking why a story had a story. It's just a premise/theme whatever in an old OVA.

Another license rescue from Enoki, heard decent things about this adaptation unlike the other two that came before and after so I might pick it up, though I do wonder about the Japanese BD that's coming out that month because it hasn't been confirmed if it's an upscale, like the 1973 Toei series was, or not.

Will the Sage need to review this now? Can someone finally license A Tree In The Sun instead...

I'm surprised Sage hasn't reviewed this yet, it seems like the sort of show his channel was made for.

The article should have mentioned that what Image Entertainment released was a feature length compilation of the OVA series, not the OVAs themselves (according to the ANN Encyclopedia). Although there isn't a huge difference in running time. The four OVA episodes come up to 120 minutes and the Image Entertainment release is 111 minutes. Just chopping out the OP and ED three times would probably account for the time difference.

If they could pick up the '01 version of "Cyborg 009" (dubbed and subbed) as a full series boxset, then I would happily pay to get that provided that it is in the $50-70 range.

Might be worth taking a look at, since it's referenced in Giant Robo.

Did you miss the part that he's descended from an alien? And has superpowers? Hey, if Superman can randomly land in Kansas, an alien can beget superpowered offspring in Japan!
