That's pretty amusing. Kay/Kei doesn't seem popular at all with the Japanese GuP fans. Heck, there isn't even a figure of her yet whereas Anchovy already has 2 or 3.

Take your pick: detachment from reality, suspension of disbelief, etc.

That's quite a huge ice cream cone Kay's holding...Perhaps she wanted to celebrate her birthday with a big icy treat. Wink

i like Kay, but I'd draw the line at singing "happy birthday" in public, it just seems so awkward.

Because they are fans getting together with other fans to have fun and talk about a show that they like.
It seems to me that it is sort of a mini-convention.

I would not mind attending something like this.
I remember long, long ago that I did some very similar things as a Star Trek fan.

What so awkward when you are with other 1,500 fans at the same place? To me it looks like a normal anime event.

Don't push your unnecessary values here, bro. Those guys are trying to have fun and are very respectful for a character that they loved so let them do whatever they want, surely no one is getting hurt. Beside, this sort of event helped increased relationship and social skills among people. I'm hoping that they can keep it going.

Celebrating a fictional character's birthday. That reminds me of a George Carlin bit.
