Wow, there was even a mini arc where spoiler[Washizu literally went to hell and back]. I can't believe the longest Mahjong match of all time will finally be over.

1992-2018=25-26 years of running, not 27.

You know that the year it started count, right? April 1992, so it's almost 27, yes.

ISTR Fukumoto saying there'd be more after Washizu kicked the bucket. I guess there's just an epilogue arc to wrap things up?

Huh? A manga that runs from April 1992 to April 1993 lasts one year, not two. April 2002, 10 years; 2012, 20 years. 1992 to 2018 would be 26 years.

Though this article reports a 1991 start date if Google Translate is right.

I'll say, people complain about mangas like Berserk and Hunter X Hunter taking forever to get anywhere Akagi and Washizu duel lasting as long as it has is almost meme like.

I think I'm more disappointed the manga really ends with Washizu, and no other terror behind him. But I guess it's hard to top that. I just something more between Ten and Akagi's gap/years. ^u^;

Wondering how soon he'll start another title. Gai is still my favorite, so something like that would be really cool.

Probably something to tie up Akagi and Ten yeah, considering there should be ~7 chapters after Washizu's loss, that's still the length of one of the earliers arcs more or less so they could do a few things in that span (or nothing if it goes at the current pace).

And yeah, the manga started in June of 91.

To be fair though, the washizu arc is only slightly longer than Chimera ant arc. (Actually Akagi's chapters are shorter in length and faster to read so it's more or less equivalent).
Edit : actually not? I always thought HxH chapters were 30-40 pages long for whatever reason.

I like to think, especially when I am playing mahjong, that somewhere and somewhen Akagi is always playing Washizu.
