Great show, but the $70-sh USD price (before shipping) for each of the 9 volumes is too rich for my blood. I'll wait for the the (hopefully) inevitable and far cheaper NA release.

The BD/DVDs come with replica Chariot cards. Just saying.

Remember though, this is licensed by Netflix. It's entirely possible that there won't be an affordable US BD-release, much like how the OVAs never got one. This Japanese home release might be all we're getting.

@ Lord Starfish - yes, that is possible, but keep in mind that other anime that was initially a Netflix exclusive went on to be licensed for home release by other companies. Most recent example I am aware of is Ajin which will be put out by Sentai. Also, the original LWA OVA and sequal OVA were somewhat unique offerings. Trigger, for whatever reason, decided to basically handle the release of those on its own as opposed to licensing them to a NA company. In fact, the 2nd OVA was financed via crowdfunding. So I wouldn't really look at those and believe they are indicative of what will happen to the TV series. Having said all that, however, yes, there are never any solid guarantees in life, but I feel relatively confident LWA TV will get a NA release - probably through Sentai. I also think at some point there will be a NA release of the two ovas.

There was also the recently announced home video release of 7 Deadly Sins by Funimation. I'll agree that a home video release is more likely than not. But it will definitely take some time before it happens, and who releases it is anyone's guess.

I'd love to buy these JP releases if I had the money, especially for those Shiny Chariot cards. I know that the Sevrn Dealy Sins release from Funimation will include the Spanish dub, so I hope it picks LWA up as well and includes its respective dub too. It would be amazing.

Not entirely. The second OVA was financed by Good Smile Company, one of the stakeholders in Trigger's parent company, Ultra Super Pictures. The Kickstarter was used as promotion in the West as well as adding some extra revenue for additional animation cuts. If the Kickstarter failed, the second OVA would still have been made; it would have simply been shorter.

This misconception has spread easily.

Ah, right you are. I had forgotten that the KS was to make the episode longer (among other things) rather than actually finance the whole thing. Nonetheless, that origin goes a way to explaining why it wasn't released conventionally in NA (yet).

I think Seven Deadly Sins in the most recent and it's by Funimation.

@ Rinkwolf - correct you are, but MegaMooseJam2008 beat you to the punch above. But yeah, it is comforting to know that Netflix exclusives do not equal no physical release. The same is true of Amazon Prime titles. Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress, for example, which was an AP exclusive has been licensed by CR for physical release with Funi as the distributor.

Funimation releasing Crunyroll titles is to be expected, so no news there. Sentai used to have a lock down on Netflix titles but that changed when Funimation got Seven Deadly Sins.
