I actually didn't know Toshiba was invested in nuclear energy in the United States, let alone that it's a big enough part of the company that damage to that department would give it financial problems as a whole.

People sometime forget how intertwined the anime industry is with other larger global economic sectors and international investment banking. A hiccup in something like 7-11 Holdings can have major repercussions throughout areas like publishing and TV programs.
