Man, I feel sorry for the many Japanese karaoke goers who had to listen to bad renditions of "unravel". TK's distinctive falsetto is just about impossible to replicate.

The biggest surprise on the list to me is "Kouga Ninpouchou" from Basilisk. 12 years after the show aired, I still listen to it from time to time, and I always thought it was underappreciated. Good to be proven wrong.

Lion is still my number 1 regardless of newcomers pushing it down the list each year.

This brings back memories, when I first learned to play the chords for Himawari no Yakusoku back in 2015. I'm a fan of ballad songs so I guess it deserved top spot. Such a sweet and somewhat touching song.

Interesting seeing the split between artists who concentrate on anison (e.g. May'n) and those who are known for a lot of non-anime songs as well (e.g. Asian Kung-fu Generation). FLOW are in between - having released a compilation album of anime songs and have been performers at events like Animelo Summer Live and Animax Musix.

Out of that list I only managed to hear Lion sung by May'n at her live at Namba Hatch, Osaka on my last visit to Japan.

I wonder if we'll get any concerts with May'n singing with Megumi Nakajima now that the latter has resumed her singing career?

..."Biker Mice from Mars"?

*remembers that Japan had a pretty great X-Men cartoon theme*

*looks up the song by GLAY, which is a ballad*

*is even more confused*

I wouldn't imagine an early 90s Western cartoon like that would make the list. Given "Your Name's" success, I would have thought that 1 of its would #1 on the karaoke list.

Card Games Thesis got dethroned.

Quote:
"Silhouette" by KANA-BOON, Naruto Shippūden

I knew that would be in the list.

Quote:
"GO!!!" by FLOW, Naruto Shippūden

I bet my life savings that song was not in Shippuden, but in the original Naruto.

"Single Bed" by Sharam Q at number 7, just below "Let It Go."
Huh, had no idea that the song was still popular over there considering DNA² is a pretty obscure little 90s title these days. Guess Tsunku providing vocals helps a lot, regardless it's a stellar song.
