I'll give this a watch, but the staff and studio is not bringing me confidence. I probably need to see an animated PV first.

Yeah, these are real monsters all right... Just seems like (aside from the main char and snake) that it's just kemono-mimi chars as opposed to... y'know, interesting monster character designs.

I was thinking the same thing as well; Horned girl, winged girl? And dragon girl is more "bat winged girl" than someone with scales.

As for Q the wingless serpent, there's the whole "snake from Antarctica" aspect. If you're going for "secret monster land at the South Pole" background story then it's probably best not to borrow an Aztec deity who's correctly in his/her tropical element already. And wouldn't Quetzalcoatl be the last name? I get Sassassul should be a hiss.

Say what you want about Monster Musume but the Okayado guy knows his myth and legend. Not to forget how to name exotic characters.

I've heard a couple of good things from the early chapters of A Centaur's Life but never heard any details though...

That's basically just because the author went for the mundane explanation that the different monster sub-species (except for the snake people) are all evolved from the same prehistoric humans (though it's an alternate version of Earth where mammals are hexopods instead of quadrupeds, although some sub-species of humanity don't grow the extra pair of limbs past the fetal stage).

I will give this series a try. But I think the monster girl genre has already reached it's peak after Monster Masume and Interview with Monster Girls.

As a reader of the manga this series puts out a different direction than anything monster girl related so far. It's not a ecchi romcom like Monster Musume, and probably not as tropey as Interviews. It's strictly slice of life. Healing type anime.

Slice of life? Mostly. Healing? Not so sure of that. The manga is fairly political and has a lot of social commentary, so the anime will most likely feature the same. Whether at the same level, or if it'll be toned down a bit... that remains to be seen.

It's good that the story is in charge of making it interesting then ~
No ecchi, low humor and plain character designs, but it's still interesting. It's the charm that only this manga has.

If you want "monster" looking girls with, y'know, boobs and stuff, this isn't the show your looking for.

The manga does show nipples, but it's not flooded with fanservice. If you wanna fanservice, wait for the mermaids. At least, unlike most mermaids, you can proper sex with them in this series.

Winged people are more angels than anything.

I have a feeling the anime either won't show the mermaids at all or it'll give the mermaid girls the bikini-tops-all-the-time treatment, even if the manga had the mermaid girls topless at school when there weren't any non-mermaid exchange students around.

Either that or the mermaids will be topless but with the usual convenient censoring steam/light/furniture.

Quetzalcoatl must've developed a special power of some sort to be able to survive the extremely-frigid sub-zero temperatures of Antarctica...Normally, snakes would be frozen stiff if they were in cold areas during the winter due to their cold-blooded bodies.
