I was following @kunaldes' livetweet of the Vertical ACen panel, and perhaps the most surprising news to come up was that Ed Chavez no longer works at Vertical (and yet he was still the one presenting the panel).

Glad to see that they've all but confirmed to be releasing at least most of the Monogatari novels instead of just announcing them one at a time.

I was at that session myself and did the reporting on it, so that must have been the guy sitting in front me, then. (He said he was live-tweeting and asked a couple of questions based on those tweets.)

If you know of Ed Chavez, then he mentioned that he's looking at making his own company devoted more specifically towards e-books (IIRC), so look for an announcement from him early next year to that effect. What was going on with e-books apparently had something to do with his departure, too.

Theron, thanks for the additional details on Ed's plans. I've enjoyed his panels and the stuff he licensed for Vertical, and I'm interested to see what he does next.

BTW, sorry I didn't see you this year; severe medical emergency in the family, so I had to cancel my ACen trip (and the Muv-Luv panel). See you at ACen 2018, I hope.

hi, yes, that was me.

imo you kind of buried the lede by putting "The Voices of a Distant Star manga slated for early 2018" in the blurb instead of Nekomonogatari.

Also interestingly, Vertical acknowledged they had licensed Your Lie in April as early as November 2016, but I don't see them having made an official announcement anywhere. It even showed up in their monthly newsletter back in February as an upcoming title. Not terribly surprised nobody noticed it though, since a lot of people I know who try to keep up to date on licenses had no idea either.
