As much as I'd love to see more animated Satoshi Kon works, and as much as I think Masao Maruyama is one of the best people to produce such a work, Kon was such an auteur with such a distinctive creative voice, it's basically impossible to make any animated feature without his involvement that would actually turn out well. His death was/is seriously one of the greatest losses to the anime industry.

It's so sad to see week after week generic crap being greenlit left and right and projects like this that look genuinely unique and promising have to go through hell and beyond to get made. I'll definitely keep an eye on this. And yes, anime needs more people like Maruyama and Satoshi Kon...

This would be fantastic, though I still wish he'd find some possible way to make The Dream Machine see the light of day.

This does look like it would be a great idea, but does M2 have animation or production staff yet? Their only work, Onihei, was entirely outsourced. I don't know they could make the best of Kon's work relying on outsourcing studios to do the actual animation and what not.

With RE:CREATORS being such a hit, the time has definitely come for an OPUS anime. It is the first thing I thought of when I heard the premise of that show. There is really a potential to go in very mind-twisting directions with the concept.
