Very Happy I am very optimistic now. The characters look good! Everything looks good! I'm loving how the Hommunculi look (Seeing Gluttony portrayed like that scares me, which is good). And HUGHES! He better have those Elicia photos. I may just go re-watch both FMA series now...I'm so excited-

Oh, Al's not played by Rie Kugimiya? Well...uh...okay. Confused

I'm pleasantly surprised to find positive comments (thus far) in this forum, because I was about to say--Don't care what anyone says, this is looking rather awesome to me! I've been wondering if we were going to see new footage after their promotional tour, and now the next thing I'm curious about is what this movie's running time will be. If it turns out to be 2-and-a-half hours, I'm fairly optimistic they might do the core story sufficient justice in one movie (like they did with Space Battleship Yamato). EIther way, it just looks fun and here's hoping we'll hear a licensing announcement at some point!

It looks so good...
They're going to adap all the 64 episodes of the animated series, so I hope it doesn't feel rushed!

I don't know why this is getting praised. The visual effects look horrible and I don't want to judge everything from just a pv but the acting looks bad too. This whole movie reminds me of Attack on Titan's live action.

It looks pretty cheap, and the acting doesn't even seem to be all that great.

Also, this has been said before but these Japanese people trying to pass as European characters still just look like mediocre cosplay at best. It would probably be better if they weren't clearly wearing wigs but whatever.

I know Japan is a pretty homogeneous country, but if you're doing an adaptation of a series like this then some changes wouldn't be a bad thing. Maybe they could have just let Ed have darker hair. It would look better than acting like a Japanese kid can pull off natural blond, thick, braided hair.

Regarding the faithfulness of the adaptation, which has characters of non-Japanese ethnicity, the director said, "There will never be a scene in which a character says something that would identify him/her as Japanese."

Except that... they're obviously Asian and speaking in Japanese... That aside, I second the above. I wouldn't have any problem with the actors if they looked cool enough. I have seen cosplay better than this. (And has anyone else seen Vic's Fullmetal Fantasy?? This has already been done!)
If people are hyped for this, I'm happy for them really. But so far it looks like a stage play with cgi. Of course it would be nice to be pleasantly surprised, but I'm not holding out hope. If Ed's wig is any indication.

And no one's making any comments on how Al's keeping A CAT inside the armor, and Black Hayate is in the second poster? They're just missing the goodest good girl, Den.

Exactly. When I saw the cat and then Black Hayate, my emotions took over. I was sold. When this comes to the States, and I hope it does, I'm gonna go see it. Even effects-wise, this looks better than the live-action AoT.

Why is everyone who's supposed to be blonde blonde except for Winry? And her front bangs are wrong. She just looks like some random girl to me.

Dude it looks horrible. I prefer to re-read manga than watch this "movie". Acting is horrible, pacing is awful (you can't tell the story in 2 movies), and I've seen only ~10 good live-action movies in my entire life (Liar Game, Kaiji 1-2, Kamisama no Iutoori, Densha Otoko, Bakuman (as a movie, not adaptation), Crows 1-2), everything else was complete trash.
