If only Naruto Shippuden could have got the before midnight slot, it deserves it for the upcoming content especially.

Glad at least I get to see Trunks & goten way earlier in the evening now, same for KilGon.

Hopefully this will give the block a much-needed shot in the arm. As the ratings for Toonami have been dismal these past few months.

I might be wrong since I haven't cared much about Toonami lately but the block starts at 11:30pm or it did last week, right? So the block isn't "moving up an hour" but gaining back 30 minutes that it previously lost at the front end and every show moves up 30 minutes. Right?

So why is the tagline for the article saying Toonami has gained an hour of programming?

Also don't forget that it looks like there will be an hour of DB Super at 8pm, with the premieres being in that hour block which isn't Toonami but regular Adult Swim. So I don't think this is going to increase ratings too much.

No No NOOO! Look Toonami guys this is just not smart! 1. TAKE OFF SHIPPUDEN! Unless the episodes are fresh off the latest dub then DONT AIR EPISODES from 5 yrs ago! 2. Run for only 3 hours! In the past it has shown that having a shorter toonami block ranks in higher ratings, hence 2015's massive boost in the ratings yr long! 3. AIR MORE VARIETY! the block seems to be riding the shonen wagon now ever since they got HxH last yr now they're stuffed with long runners! Toonami HAS to go back to the glory days of 2014 when they added a huge variety of experimental content like Hellsing, Black Lagoon, AOT s1, Space Dandy etc and 2015 with Michiko & Hatchin and Parasyte did beautifully on the block, enough with the generic washed up power boost, friendship shonen series! And Finally, deviate from just action! If Toonami became a more comedy oriented or experimental block that didn't just focus on action then they'd last alot longer as a truly western anime powerhouse of content and it'll serve as a enjoyable gateway to casuals by exposing a variety of different quality anime. The world of anime isnt always Powerups, screams and transformations! Its about character development and philosophy too! MY GOSH! UGHH

I'm kind of shocked that people still care about a TV block for anime in the West. Their ratings seem to be going down, which isn't shocking since the internet exists now and I feel like the nostalgia people initially had when the block was brought back is slowly fading away as well.

If your going to voice a complaint you should type it up in a more formal way, not a paragraph list with random caps and sound words where you feel like.

Now to address your points,

1- Shippuden is not the issue, it does fine.

2- Block lenght is not the issue, the time of the block is, people are busy on Saturday night and don't always feel like staying up till 3 AM to watch stuff. If the block ran for 4 hours from say 8-12 I'm sure you'd see better ratings because it's on at a more accessible time.

3- Shounen is the bread and butter of Toonami, has been since it originally ran in the early 2000s. They've tried other shows and they have almost always struggled and failed.

I will agree though that they have a serious issue with too many long running shows, you can do short shounen seasons like My Hero Academia and AOT have. One Piece got canned only to have HxH, another long Shounen, take it's place. I won't knock points for JOJO because people were asking for that for years.

For me, Toonami is the only way for me to watch new anime outside of blind-buying. Unlike most people, I don't have the best streaming capabilities in my apartment and have no way to get better internet (I live in an apartment, so whatever they're contracted with is all we can have; we even have the best service they offer). I have to share the connection with roommates that usually online game 8-12 hours per day (sometimes more), which makes things go even slower for me. So, for me, Toonami is my gateway to shows that I probably should've seen already, but either couldn't due to my connection problems or were ones that I had thought of watching but never actually went out the way to go for it. Also, I prefer watching dubs over subs, so Toonami is also fantastic for me to watch in the format I like most.

Although I can just speak from my experience. I'm sure there's a lot of people that do prefer online streaming, but I'm guessing Toonami can't be doing too bad that they're increasing their run time again. Although I'm thinking it might be temporary until they're done re-running AoT S2. But I hope I'm wrong; I don't mind having more Toonami time on the weekend; it's the 2nd most awesome thing I enjoy every week.

Serious question here, and I don't want you to reveal any personal info but so I'll just ask how slow your connection is, but download and upload. This section I quoted is not something that should be happening in 2017 in The United States of America. Your speeds must be extremely low for this to happen and I would take steps to force an upgrade. If it's so slow that gaming affects it, then it's not really usable for things such as work. Now if they're torrenting stuff (especially uploading), that would make a lot more sense. Uploading causes far more slow downs than downloads and streaming do.

Yes, they have only added in half an hour. I watch the block, at it has been starting at 11:30. The only additional show is JoJo, with everything else being what they were showing before.

the problem is that new eps of super shows early well before the block even starts, and even then the only series people are interested was AoT which ended its run and hunter x hunter but that show way too late. and dont want to admit it, but like with one piece, its too late run shippuden on AS anymore UNLESS they decide to actually run new episodes or an arc close to it. if they had just skipped to the paramount arc or at least to the impel down arc, then one piece would still be on the lineup. its still not too late for shippuden. they should just skip these eps that were shown 5 years ago as well as the fillers and go straight to the start of the tail beast training arc/ 4th great ninja war arc.

also what the hell were they thinking in bringing stardust crusaders? i mean viz media only dubbed THREE EPISODES before seemingly abandoning the whole thing. and so far there haven't been any sign that the even have the license of that series let alone that they even dubbed the rest of the episodes. would have been better off if AS had gotten another popular shounen type series like my hero academia S1.

I'm glad they seem to be doing alright. And I agree with the other user that Toonami is where I'm exposed to new shows. I'm not a fan of online streaming. I don't think I ever will be. Even if it's a show I was looking forward to for MONTHS I take forever to will myself to watch. Since Toonami is available I can just pop the tv on and watch away while doing other things. Plus I love to liveblog while doing it Anime hyper.

Yeah ask people how well they remember the "successful" runs of Hamtaro, Bobobobo, & Prince Of Tennis on Cartoon Network.

Yeahhh Toonami has generally never leaned heavily towards thought provoking dramas or slice of life comedies.

Footage from the later episodes of Stardust Crusaders was showcased at Anime Expo this year. They showcased clips of Hol Horse's debut and Kakyoin's rerorerorero dubbed.

What are you talking about? We've known for ages that Viz has dubbed more of Stardust Crusaders. Those three episodes were just a test dub to gauge interest. A while back, we got clips from later episodes at a con.

Why would Toonami even grab something if it only had three episodes done out of forty-eight? It's obviously at least half-done, if not further by now (depends if they want to do half of Stardust Crusaders, break, then the other half, or a full run in one go).

Do hope they get Diamond is Unbreakable after this. I love Part 4 way more than Part 3 (though I enjoy both).

I do like the idea of MHA joining the line up though. Why not both, I say.
