Another unfortunate death this month. I hope his family and friends can get through this. Thank you for contributing to so many awesome series and having an impact on so many lives.

He is credited for mecha design for The Irresponsible Captain Tylor, and was the animation supervisor and mechanical director for the 6 Angels film.

As he is the creator of the adorable miniature pink mechs from The Irresponsible Captain Tylor, we shall forever be in his debt.

Requiescat in pace, Masuo-sama. Your work was very much appreciated, and you will be missed.

Heck, his resume practically reads like my list of favorite 1980s-90s era anime.

Sadly, that was my thought too. Tho we have no idea if that was truly the cause.

A very talented animator and director who helped make several iconic anime like Macross and Evangelion the awesome shows that they are.

Rest in peace, Mr. Masuo-san. You will be dearly missed. Sad

Maybe, although some people can be chain smokers all their life like Miyazaki and be unaffected. Heck, both my grandfathers were heavy smokers, drinkers, and diabetic, and lived until their 80s.

I don't know why people think that half Japan's population still smokes, which has been untrue for about forty years. It's about a quarter to thirty percent, on par with most Western European countries, and the United States when you consider the margin of error of people who keep mum about the habit so their health insurance doesn't go up.
