There's no need to remake Crest/Banner of the Stars. Someone only needs to continue it.

Granted, while I was happy someone rebooted Ushio and tora, I'd rather not see anime fall into the Reboot Moebius Loop Trap.

I went to check on what I watched from 1999 and all I got was Ryvius, and I don't want that remade. I guess Turn A Gundam would be interesting to see remade because I've heard good things about the show and seeing it in updated animation could be nice.

I'm glad to see Tiger and Bunny is number 1 but it's sad to see so many people want to ruin Cowboy Bebop. Laughing

I've only seen a few shows on the remake list but I never really thought any of them needed a remake. With the exception of Betterman, which I'm indifferent to, the others are shows that I found to be far above average. Saying they need a remake is almost insulting. Laughing

I'd totally be into new versions of classic shows but most of them don't really NEED to be brought back, it would just be something I'd want to check out if it was happening.

Crest of the Stars deserves a sequel or a reboot anime since i enjoy reading the current manga adaption of the series.

And i have watch Starship Girl Yamamoto Yohko on AXN Asia in the past. It was a great show to watch.

It turns out a lot of people want more Cowboy Bebop, and Code Geass is getting a sequel. For the new poll I voted for Great Teacher Onizuka. More than a reboot, I want the rest of the original manga animated.

You don't have to worry about Turn A visuals; they are very strong. It is not Cowboy Bebop quality, but it was made when Sunrise was the top anime studio.

I'm not surprised to see Tiger and Bunny at number, it's the show that started the poll but My Otome... one of the few series listed here that's not tied to a character with a finished story... not only didn't make the top 15, it was possibly beaten by a show not even made by Sunrise.

The first show that came to mind for a 1999 remake is Excel Saga.... yada yada "follow the manga" yada yada "fix the CG and digipaint" and yada yada "4:3 ratio! Are you crazy?"; Most of the complaints are the same as 1999 was the start of the problem era, namely "We could do this cheaper with computers. It looks like day glo garbage but it's cheap day glo garbage." I don't care that much about the ratio as long as it's made in that ratio but it usually comes up in reviews for some reason.

But it's not as if the Excel Saga manga is why the show is still remembered. Since it seems to be the other way around, probably best to leave it alone. What else...

Gokudo... perfect as is. GTO... too likely to get creepy these days. Eden's Bowy... I'm probably the only one who remembers it, let alone likes it. Dai Guard... too low key. Dual! Parallel Trouble Adventure... too basic. Di Gi Charat... no. Magic User's Club.... hmm. Space Pirate Mito.. maybe but it's also too likely to get creepy, very creepy. Steel Angel Kurumi...

Magical, wonderful... Robotic combat maids. Throw them in a tank, they'll fit right in.

The 2 things that should be remade are, shows that weren't very good but had potential and shows that poorly or partly adapted the Manga.

Well I doubt their intention is to ruin the Anime, just to see what happens to Spike and the the rest of the crew of the Bebop.

Then they weren't really paying attention the first time around.

Well we know Julia is dead, as is Vicious, Spike just fell down after kicking Vicious's ass.

Infinite Ryvius would need a new script more than anything. I liked the premise, but throwing 20-30 characters at the audience only to decide later who would be important enough to remember was laughable. Enough that Lost Village made fun of the same concept more than a decade later.

My vote went to Legend of Black Heaven, which was a great series with an original premise and interesting characters, but suffered from terrible animation and an occasional bizarre injection of 90's pop aesthetic. Remake it with a good director and a reasonable budget and I would buy it right up (even though I own the first one).

FWIW, 1999 had quite a few good titles that I would love to see made available again. Some of the shows look a bit dated, but I don't think Crest of the Stars or Jubei-Chan need a new coat of paint to entertain a new generation.

Funny, I just added Infinite Ryvius to my PTW a few days ago (Digibro mentioned it in his video about Evangelion changing late-night anime and "Lord of the Flies in space" sounded interesting). Does it hold up?

I watched it a second time a few years back and it still held up for me. Of course some people didn't like it to begin with.

It's getting a blu-ray release in Japan in a few monthes. I hope it eventually makes it over here.

Crest/Banner of the Stars were never light novels; they're published by a serious sci-fi label. Frankly the cover art is really bad and there's definitely a part of me that would like to see a less bland visual style applied to the series.

I'm so happy that for last week's question Phi Brain made the list! That anime was fantastic imo! For this week's list, i definitely think infinite ryvius could use a remake. It was a great anime, but definitely could be upgraded.
