There's a concept in education called "digital natives" that seems like it would really apply here.

I've tried a couple painting apps on my phone and the results were roughly the same quality as the artwork I produced in kindergarten Laughing
This guy has a real talent. Hope his manga career is a success!

I'm in my thirties now.
Reading this article made me feel like I could make decent drawings by the time I'm 40 if I just start practicing. Sad

My drawings look goofy most of the time, so trying on a smartphone would be even more iffy. But it does inspire!

If I was able to draw on my own smartphone, I would like to try to work around the problem of having to deal with my fingers when they get greasy.

Technology is amazing. My intuos3 finally stopped working, so I'm doing my contest entree on my phone, too. Line consistency is an issue, but it's surprisingly well-adjusted to create professional work. I'm new to using my phone, but I can still do things like this with my fingers:
