Our production had to overhaul several major ways of working together in order to improve for 2006. Sorry...

Worst: So do i...

Yaoi sells much better than anything else we do.

I have all their yaoi titles pre-ordered thru the end of the year & titles into April on hold(in my cart).
But Antique is yaoi-ish. I really liked Vol 1. My daughter didn't, but one of her friends liked it. They all bought yaoi paddles & shirts at comic-con. They all wore the shirts first day of school.

Off-topic or not, it's not often that I get to ask people within the industry the questions about the stuff they do that bugs me:

Why is Berserk released every three months instead of every two months, like any other company would likely do it? Hellsing, I understand why (one of those rare occaisions where the American release is caught-up with the Japanese release). Trigun, I can let slide (just three more books to go...). But considering how long it's going to take for you guys to catch up to where they're at with Berserk right now -- that's just flat-out irritating.

I also fully realise that the three titles I mentioned are the ones being released in conjunction with Dark Horse. And do you mean to say that your yaoi sells better than those three, as well? Because if so, then I must say that it's truly sad that porn sells better than art, even in the anime world...

It sucks about yaoi getting more sales. But I'm not a women nor gay (not that anything wrong with that - cliched but true) so who knows.

At least we get some kind of reply. You don't get a lot companies doing that.

Here's to Worst in 06.

Here's looking forward to things settling in and DM getting lots more released.

I'm of course also looking forward to more volumes of Worse and IWGP. Heck I even devoted one of my Below the Surface columns in Newtype USA to the locations in Volume 1 of IGWP.

Berserk will start to accelerate early next year, (I believe Feb.) We are very happy to continue putting up that title and hope see it to the end. (Gives the guy editors at DMP something better to enjoy.)

Sorry, this was not counting our Dark Horse co-published titles. Yaoi it doing great in the demographic it was made for...

Yaoi is not porn, it's just the same as any other manga story of it's kind. (One could say Berserk is porn because of it's very first opening page... Wink)
