It's a shame that Japanese gamers won't get to relive the awesome adventures of Earthbound. At least they can take solace in the fact that Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem and Panel de Pon are Japan-exclusive.

What is amazing is how Nintendo continues to screw over fans and how they continue to take it happily. As if they cannot easily add more games.

Sheesh, I guess I shouldn't be happy enough with my SNES mini.

I just assumed it was because that game is incredibly difficult to find in North America.

As in Earthbound's inclusion? That's how I saw it too, in addition to how it sold really well when it was added to the Wii's eShop. I'm impressed they pulled off releasing it twice more, once for the Wii U eShop and again to the SNES Mini. (I'm guessing it'll also eventually appear on the Switch Arcade.)

Earthbound was never on the Wii's eShop (in any country). That's why it was such a big deal back when it was released on the Wii U eShop.

It's just an emulator in an overpriced plastic box.

So... wait... the SNES had too many RPGs so the Super Famicon got one less RPG... meaning SNES came first... or the Super Famicon got a nice balance of games but they wanted the SNES to have more two players games... so they dropped a two player puzzle game in favor of a RPG... no, that's not right...
Wait, let me check my notes.
Quote: | Nishi said that the list of games included in the Japanese release was intended to balance the genre and character of every game, and that there were other RPGs besides EarthBound that Nintendo wanted to include. In addition, Nintendo also wanted to include games that could be played with friends and family, and that the decision was made with the target region in mind. |
So the real question is "If the list of games for the Japanese release was intended to balance the genre and character of every game, then what was the goal behind the North American game list?"
I know, I know, "to annoy everyone ", it was a rhetorical question.

The real question is why they don't put every SNES game they have the rights for on the damn thing. The entire SNES library with every game in each region still doesn't reach 1GB.

maybe because those are products that they sell ? maybe because they are a company that has to make company to feed their families ? dunno, just a crazy idea.

Yeah it's most definitely a crying shame japanese gamers won't get to play a game that was ported to the Gameboy Advance along with it's predecessor (which up until a while ago people outside of Japan could not legally obtain outright or play).

.......Because realistically no everyone would play all those games which I'd estimate would probably amount to at least anywhere from 60-90 titles if we're just talking Nintendo owned games.
