Having been someone that saw all five of the domestic Pokemon theatrical releases, I hope this new film lives up to the quality standards of Pokemon films 3,4, and 5. Jirachi the Wish-maker and Destiny Deoxys were super lame and I'm glad they went direct to video. Here's hoping Nintendo spearheading Pokemon in the US leads to higher-quality features and that they at least have limited-run theatrical showings. My little brother and I had fond memories of watching some of these films in theaters and I'd love to relive that experience someday.

This sounds interesting. I wonder how good the TV special and the new movie will be without 4Kids involvment.

I thought 1 and 2 were the best and the quality in art and story seemed to fade at 3. Jirachi wasn't that great, will agree there although it was still better than Heroes. I actually felt Deoxys was a decent turn around in quality though, a definite improvement from the last few movies.

I think these were both done before 4Kids lost the license.

Heh, I plan on taking part in the GBA tour they're having. A friend of mine made second place nationally last year, losing only to extremely bad luck with the random number generator. If I can get past the initial timed web trivia crap that they insist on doing I stand a good chance of getting a trip to NY ¬_¬

yea, i liked the first one because i actually had some emotional sadness going on at the end... where he turned to stone. and the second one... which one was that again? Mewtwo Returns? or the one about Lugia? <-- i like that one too. (Not that any one cares 'bout what i think). But i kinda had the feeling that something was missing when they released the one about Jirachi and Deoxys. i mean, the Entei one was fine and all... i juss hope that the next movie (a bit of touch of Canada ) will be decent.
Oh, and hey, what are your thoughts about the mini's? i like the one where they're all playing hide and seek and larvitar had to find them and the one about pokeparty dance and the one about the pichu brothers. That's it, mew. Very Happy

I loved the first, second, fifth and the eighth movie! I saw the eighth movie in Japanese though. Will be getting dubbed version when it comes out though..*makes up a list to try and persuade parents on getting it*

My Top 3 movie list:

1: Lucario and the mystery of Mew(Satoshi Wave Master! xD) and Pokemon 2000("..the earth shall turn to Ash" xD) -tied-
2: Pokemon Heroes(Altoshipping! Errr um I mean Satoshi x Latias)
3: Pokemon the first movie/Pokemon the 3rd movie/Pokemon 4ever -triple tie-

As you can see, I love Satoshi/Ash-centric movies like Pokemon 2000; the chosen one! xD I so wish I could get the original japanese version of that movie.

Too bad Kasumi/Misty had to leave, but oh well.

My favorite mini is definately the hide-and-seek one! Pikachu's Pikaboo! or whatever it's called.

"Everybody hide 'cause Pikachu's coming!" xD

wait, what's the one you said about the Lucario and the Mystery of Mew? Is that the first movie? ...... and not to make you upset about this, but this is just me, but Misty isn't my favorite character. I would not mind her if she hadn't taken hold of Togepi's egg in that episode. I was kinda mad at her because Ash was the one who found it first... Crying or Very sad. I mean, when Togepi first hatched, it could have seen Ash first and then Misty could have taken care of it but no. She had to snatch the egg and watch it hatch. (sigh) why...? but overall, yea, i like the Pikachu's Pikaboo and i hope the next movie will be good.
will it have the new species of Pokemon (Bonsly and Munchslax?)

On my Top 3 Pokemon Movie list, Lucario and the Mystery of Mew is first along wih Pokemon 2000.

I'm not upset, everyone's entitled to their own opinions.

10 F***ING YEARS!? its been that long? it just won't die, will it? sure, there are anime series that have been around longer, but theyre at least GOOD. It may be considered anime, but its the bastard child of the anime industry, right up there with other card game animes. all it is is a massive corporate sceme set up by Nintendo that takes the form of an anime. it set up the road for many other animes to be used as cash cows, and has, along with DBZ, given anime a bad name, labling it as "that pokemon, yugioh and DBZ shit". the man who came up with pokemon deserves some sort of intense punishment. me and over 99% of the worldwide anime fanbase wants it to die. personally, i just wish it was never spawned.

I'm not a big Pokemon fan, but I do like to check out the movies. The full-length version of 'Mewtwo's Origin' still ranks among my favorite moments in anime. RIP Amber.

It's the next movie to be dubbed and brought over, and Mew is one of the featured characters. Serebii.net is a good source of information on the movie btw.

IIRC, In Japan, the latest Pokemon movie was the second highest-grossing film of 2005. Sorry, but the franchise is still quite popular over there; it's unlikely to die down anytime soon.

i'll admit that the anime is very over-americanized (thank you 4kids!) but i just like playing the games.
