Apparently they really want to get the block started, and have for many years. Since the G4 anime is basically dead, it does make sense that they'd be acquiring new programming from scratch rather than simulcasting old G4 stuff.

If you want to leave a comment with the CRTC (and I highly recommend that you do), be sure to select "3773221 Canada Inc."

This is great news except for the fact that I don't get G4TecTV since its one of those channels you gotta purchase separately. But if this help expose more people to anime and good ones at that than I'm all for it.

I wish G4 was still a channel in the US. Now it's just mess.

It's really ironic that the Canadian G4 channel is trying to move heaven and earth (a.k.a. Canadian bureaucracy) so it can run anime Up North, while the U.S. G4 channel has backed away from anime, at least for a while, and is keeping mum about whether there are any plans for a return.

I think most anime fans would understand if G4 in the U.S. were simply to come clean and say "We have had difficulties in obtaining new content for Anime Unleashed, but our plans call for a return as soon as we are able. We can't say right now when that will occur."

But G4 is like most TV networks in that they won't let viewers in on their plans for fear of giving their competitors an edge for counterprogramming. Even when there's no real risk of that, the secrecy is a habit. (^_*)

edge.

I think that if G4TechTV was to tell American viewers the straight truth, it would sound more like, "The anime is no longer getting sufficient ratings for us to charge the advertising rates we want to charge for the timeslot, and is not worth the amount of money we spend to acquire the broadcast rights."

I think it's mainly because the Canadian G4TechTV staff wasn't liquidated after the Comcast takeover like what happened with the US network, and the people who were fighting to get the block on the air initially may still very well be working at the station to this day.

'Hit the nail on the head there! G4 is now like a second sci-fi channel, I sick of it, I wish that they would just show games for once!
