Hey, maybe Kanye West will totally immerse himself into Japanese pop culture.
I can't wait for him to say, "Junichiro Koizumi doesn't care about black people." |

| That's cool. Not to be racist but I have bumped into more black males browsing manga in the bookstore than white males. It's nice to have someone important to music right now write a manga instead of some washed up star like Courtney Love. |

There's a difference between relevance and importance.
Kanye West is relevant to music. Now.
Kanye West will never be important. His relevance will fade. In 5-10 years, nobody will even remember his name.
And I'd rather anime and manga remain a Japanese art form. |

Well spoken. Kanye West is grandly overrated, anyhow. Sure, compared to his contemporaries in mainstream rap, his lyrics appear more intelligent and well-crafted. But taken in the context of music as a whole, his accomplishments are trivial. I even remember West himself saying he's more of a businessman than an artist, and I'm sure this manga will further reinforce that notion. |

Yeah, that was my first thought. Kanye West's involvement aside... Bill Plympton is a beyond odd choice to make a "manga" with. |

| An OEL Manga created by Kanye West and Bill Plympton? I'm already uninterested. Nice to know he acknowledges Anime and Manga, though, maybe this'll put an end to those arguements about weather or not that Lupin lyric was really an ohmage or just a shout out to some pimp. |

Well, it's not anime or manga, and he's not claiming it is. He just said it was "manga-style."
I agree with the rest of your post, BTW. Kanye may be the best hip-hop artist right now, but considering the competition, that's saying very, very little. |

Wasn't manga born from the collaboration of japanese and american artists, though? I mean, sure, as we've come to know it, manga is generally from Japan. However, I'd say that there are enough amerimanga titles on the web and on the bookstore shelves for it to not only warrant having a formal genre title, but to also not matter who makes it, as long as it doesn't suck.
Of course, the whole sucking thing depends on who reads it. |

From his song "Touch the Sky".
Yes, yes, yes guess who's on third?
Lupe still like Lupin the Third.

Let the ridiculous elitism begin.
Waiting for heavy amounts of people bashing not only KanYe West but also hiphop in general and everything else that's popular. |

| It's not manga.. why would someone even think it is. If the cartoon character "Kanye" wants to do something and make a comic thats fine. But it's not a manga, the fool can say it is till his blue in the face but wont change the fact it will be a comic.. not manga. |
