The Hellsing trailer was short as usual...
But the Death Note one was pretty neat. I've only read up to volume two, so I'm not sure if there was anything in there I missed (like who some of those cute looking girls are  ).
I thought Light looked kind of familiar, and sure enough it's the guy from Battle Royale. They did a great job with his hair, and from what samples I heard/saw of his acting in the trailer, I think he'll do a good job. L doesn't look as shaggy as I thought he would, but I guess it's good enough for live action. Again, great job with the hair. It just seems to look more natural on Japanese people, though I'm probably used to it because I've seen it enough in other live action Japanese films. I was very anxious to see Ryuk, and they did an awesome job on the costume. It looked like actual makeup and costume as opposed to CG (though some of it probably is). I just hope he isn't totally CG like the Hulk. Guess I should start catching up on the manga before it comes out  .

How do I view the .wvxx file? I open it with windows media player, but it just sits there telling me it's connecting and never changes!

Yes, I hope that Fujiwara lives up to the expectations of this film. Watari looks just like he did in the manga, and Ryuk looks bad-ass  I think I'll go see it in June.

Ok I got it. If you are having trouble opening the death note trailer from ANN then do this.
Open windows media player, go to file/open url: When the box appears copy and paste this in the box:http://www2.warnerbros.jp/broadband/trailer/90.wvx I was having trouble getting it to open, but when I did it this way it worked perfectly. Oh yeah and that is all CGI by the way. |

I'm really impressed how close character designs were in the movie. Even Ryuuk looked exactly like in the manga. The only thing that appears different in Misa, because in the manga she's blonde. Takeshi Obata's realistic style art obviously helps with live-action. They even got L's obsessive sugar cube (marshmallow?) stacking trait. The movie seems more towards the horror aspect than the manga is though.
Question: Who is that blond haired woman in the very beginning of the trailer, where L and Ryuk are both standing on either side of her? |

Well the Hellsing was just a tease. I'm buying the damn thing when it comes out anyway.
As for Deathnote, I love the book, so I'm heasetant on a live action film. Let's not just think taht because it's Japanese it will rule. Japanese film is also quite studio owned and controled. Hopefully this will be more like Batman Begins than Fantastic Four. I'm most bugged by not even the actors, but the cinematography. The book has such crisp art, yet for some reason a few scenes looks almost TV quality when it comes to lighting and cinematography. Hopefully it's just a cruddy quality trailer. Perhaps it's shot on digital 'film' and has a different look? As for Light, he looks not as sharp as I would think. L looks ok. The one second shot of Misa was just ok. I kinda understand her not dying her hair, but it is kinda lame. The one second shot of CGI Ryuck was discoruaging. I'm rather sick of CGI as a cheap fix. A Ryuck costume and make up would have been nice. Now that second trailer, the teaser with Light and the apple, THAT was nice. |

Not for the character Ryuck. On the others, sure. If any was used on Ryuck it was green, and you don't see it because it is just for the actor who plays him to cover the face. A guy with a green suit a green face. See that way the computer knows where he's moving. Blue is also an option. |

God I wanna see "Death Note"! Hopefully with Warner Bros. releasing it in Japan they'll consider releasing it here.

i think viz will bring it over since i heard viz does all the live action movies that are populer and death note being one of the most populer i bet they would bring it over.
