I'm actually looking forward to the release of This Ugly Yet Beautiful World, if only because this will be the first time that Cynthia Martinez will be voicing a character with a dual personality. That, and also the fact that Cynthia and Jessica Boone will have lead roles together, which hasn't happened yet. So in those aspects (and also the fact that I'm a big fan of both these lovely ladies), it should be very interesting to hear how they handle Hikari and Akari respectively.

BTW, slightly related, but when I registered Full Metal Panic:The Second Raid on my "Seen Some" list, I noticed that someone entered in the Releases section a June 20 release date for a U.S. DVD (R1) edition. Funny, but I don't recall any announcement that Second Raid had a R1 license, so can someone please confirm that this is true, or is it a hoax?

Although I haven't seen anything of The Ugly and Beautiful World, I keep hearing some good things about it so I'm tempted to pick it up in the future.

As for Full Metal Panic:TSR, I hope it did finally get licensed though I also haven't heard of any annoucements concerning its license.

There have been numerous release date rumors about TSR -- I think they have to be hoaxes, because even if some company did have the license (let's hope for ADV, of course), there's no way the release would be that soon, as they'd have to dub it and do all their other production work. Like I've said before, it's best to wait for the summer convention season for announcements on TSR--I'm betting we'll see one, maybe at A-Kon or AnimeExpo, maybe as late as Otakon.

As for This ~ World, I had to check AoD for the runtime, but I'm pleased that ADV isn't going the "milk the fans" route, and is keeping this series down to three discs. I'll have to take a look at a few eps on fansub first, though, before making a final decision.

FMP: TSR isn't listed on the general Release page, and I can't believe that such a major title would sneak in that close without formal announcement. Most likely that's false info.

I am also eagerly anticipating This Ugly and Beautiful World finally being released on DVD. It's one of the very few series I've seen fansubbed in its entirety, and it's one that plays out a lot different than its initial impression would lead you to believe. (And it's from GAINAX, too.) I look forward to reviewing it.

That's exactly what I was thinking, and that's why I was perplex when I saw the alleged release dates, despite the fact the TSR isn't even in bold text (ANN's indication that a title has a R1 license). TRSI doesn't have TSR listed on their site, and they are usually the first retailer to post any future releases. Any other lesser-known title, I wouldn't make a big issue on, but considering that FMP is a major-league anime franchise, I'm very surprised that this slipped through the Encyclopedists. Anyway, I did send an Error Report so hopefully the Encyclopedists will look into the matter and take the proper actions.

On the subject of FMP 2nd raid:

My local Suncoast prints up an anime reserve list for me every couple of months so I can plan ahead my purchases/reserves. Back in Feb, 2nd raid was listed as a April 25th release. Earlier in April, they printed me a new list which now has it scheduled for June 20.

I asked David Williams directly about 2nd raid at Shiokazecon last weekend and got the standard "can neither confirm nor deny" response.

It seems to me that someone jumped the gun or maybe just a case of wishfull thinking. Until this thread, I thought it was only Suncoast that had the listing. There has been no announcement from ADV(or any other distributor) about 2nd raid, so most definitely it will not be released on June 20th.

I just looked up This Ugly Yet Beautiful World on the encyclopedia, and I can;t help noticing that there are only 12 epsiodes. I'm hoping for a 3 DVD release, but more than likely it will be a 4.

What makes this series so special? I hadn't heard anything about it until now and I'm kind of interested since a couple of you seem to be looking forward to the release.

Nothing at all, it's the polar opposite of 'special'.

In fact it's probably the weakest thing to ever come out of Gainax.

It's Studio GAINAX's 20th anniversary project.

It's not your usual anime title. It's a beautiful and "sad" title, like She, the Ultimate Weapon. So, it's not everyone's cup of tea.
