I didn't like this book at all - I never made it to the Hokkaido chapter - the holiday strips killed me and I gave up on the book entirely.

To many, the world of cosplay seems like a parallel universe, guarded by an impenetrable fog of sewing techniques and obscure fabric terminology. Luckily, Cosplay Koromo-chan isn't really about that.

Much like Cosplay Complex I was hoping Koromo-chan might give me some insight on how to sew a bit better. I guess I didn't learn anything from suffering through Cosplay Complex and I should've lowered my expectations. One can learn more from an untranslated copy of Layers magazine than from Koromo-chan. What was I expecting from a 4-panel comic?

I definitely found this to be the case - it was really frustrating to read this on the subway.

Most of the punchlines rely on such wacky outbursts and reactions...

I actually laughed much harder at the same tired gag in the Bobobobob manga. Bobobob is not funny at all in the English dub, and downright bizarre in Japanese, but the manga has some fairly funny over-reactions. Much funnier than Cosplay Koromo-chan, in my opinion.

Unfortunately, I also happened to be dissapointed bij this book for the same reasons as stated above. I guess I like the authors short Toranoana gags a good deal better (he designed their mascot characters). Nope, Azumanga Daioh it aint.
