Ronny Yu's previous directorial work include The Bride with White Hair 1 & 2(1993)(which I really enjoyed) and Huo Yuan Jia(2006) aka Fearless(USA) supposedly Jet Li's final martial arts film:( Unfortunately he has also been involved with hollywood directing such films as Freddy vs. Jason, never the less with his recent film being Huo Yuan Jia(2006) and the producer of crouching tiger and hero, it could be decent (IMO Blood or anime don't need the live-action treatment, the only exceptions that im looking forward to are Alita, coz it's Cameron and Eva coz Weta Workshop digi fx studio(LOTR trilogy) are working on it and maybe Transformers(Director:Michael Bay *Rolling Eyes* don't know about that)).

I didn't particularly like the Blood:The Last Vampire movie... although I'm a real sucker for vampire flicks.

For people hoping he can tackle Saya's feminine side, he also directed Bride of Chucky. Rolling Eyes

I guess to be really authentic, they would need to film on lacation at Yakota air base. I wonder how many hoops to jump through to film on a US base in Japan? Also, would they be able to keep the early 60s look as in the anime? or would that need to be "updated?"

As long as they don't try to do what Ang Lee tried to do with the Incredible Hulk, they should be ok. Personally I liked the "theatre" drama Lee did, I thought an upscaling of "Hulk Smash" was a nice bit of creative filmmaking. But the subject was the Hulk, not something terribly conducive to high drama, IMO.

I wonder if he could induce Luc Besson to the project?

It might not be that bad to try to film on Yokota because there's actually not a lot of people living there right now.

Lovin' all the catchy titles for these news updates. Like the one from not too long ago: "America Gets Screwed" ...I think it was.

I think Blood might make for a good live-action flick. It already had a sort of realistic look and feel to it, so it's not like the actors would have to wear funny costumes.

Yeah, I don't think I had ever seen a vampire movie that wasn't live action, until Van Helsing came out. I think the realism of production I.G. films is what made me look out for their works. Just makes things seem more plausible to me? I think it makes for superior animation at any rate.

I wonder if they'll get Youki Kudoh back for this live version. That would be a trip!

Hmm, I wonder if this live action movie is going to include the racist undertones of the anime...

Could have picked a more interesting project to adapt, IMO...
