I've taken the liberty of mirroring the commercial here, for those with love for the Captain.

Nuda tastes horrible though, don't recommend drinking it.

Yeah, like that's ever going to happen! Rolling Eyes
With Brazil and Australia in the group? They will have a hard time against those two. And don't forget Croatia, which is also a good team.

I place my bets on the Netherlands to win the cup! Hup Holland Hup!

off-topic: I hate the word soccer. Football sounded good already. Why did the americans rename it? Because they already have a game called: "football"?!
American football shouldn't even be called football, because
1: the players don't exclusively use their feet to move the "ball".
2: the "ball" isn't even round, so it should't even be called a ball.
and 3: American football looks more like a derivative of the noble game of rugby, and has therefore nothing to do with the real game of football.
So let's use the word football instead of soccer, allright?

Your boys played quite the game this morning, I give'm credit.

Still, I think Australia is quite an overrated team - look at who they played in qualifying. Fiji? Vanautu? Solomon Islands? Hell, I'm a cripple with bad ankles, and *I* could probably score 7 goals a game too if I got to play against the Federated States of Macronesia all the time.

I'd stick my cane in the grass in front of the goal, and it'd probably block most of the shots Wink

On behalf of the 16 million supporters of "Oranje": thanks!
Although the Dutch were not at their best today, I'm still very proud of them. Especially Robben, he had a very good day!

Well they have good players, like Viduka and Culina. And a Dutch coach.
And last week's friendly match against the Dutch team, they played a draw, so they aren't that bad. Wink

We'll see what the worldchampionship will bring Japan. I'm rooting for them (together with Australia). If both Japan and Australia can play a draw against Brazil it would be fantastic!

Japan's drawn Brazil in the past, it's not totally out of the question.

I'll be very happy if Japan beats Australia, beats/draws Croatia, and draws Brazil. I think they have what it takes to get to the next round and maybe even advance to the final 8, so long as Kaji gets his fitness back and Zico pulls out some magic.

I was digging through my stuff from Tokyo and found the placards they handed out for the Bahrain qualifier back in March '05 - totally bringing it to the bar tomorrow, along with my flag and towel Cool

Well, they gave it away in the last ten minutes... Sad
Japan should have played out its chances. It's a shame. Confused
But it was a great game to watch! Very Happy

Agreed Crying or Very sad Tough loss, but I stayed afterwards in the packed bar to watch the US game, and you should have seen the mood go sour after the Czechs locked it away with that third goal.

Japan will hopefully pick things up against Croatia - I think the fact that they managed to stand their own physically against the Aussies was a good sign, and aside from a couple bad defensive judgements near the end their play was solid. I think they can beat the Croats and maybe even draw with Brazil, so we'll see?

Should have been 3-0- Japan's goal was a foul against Schwartzer, and clearly so.

Guess rooting for one's team is against "Teh Rules" then. Wink
Watching USA play was just painful. I can't believe they even qualified playing like that. The Czechs had the field all to themselves and the US manager didn't seemed bothered. I hope they gain some tactics for their next match or it's an early plane ride home, and to think they were in the quarter finals last time.

Makes me wonder how much credibility the FIFA World Rankings actually have because Team USA clearly doesn't look like they're one of the top teams in the world (FIFA ranked them at #5 - tied with Spain). They were very flat and listless, played with very little energy, and was simply outplayed and outcoached by the more seasoned Czech squad, which clearly played liked the #2-ranked team in the world. Simply put, Team USA just wasn't ready to play today. What makes things worse for the US is that The Azzurri (Team Italy) was very good out there against a solid Ghana team. Looks like the betting scandal is not going to effect Italy at all during the WC. The way these three teams (Czech Republic, Italy, and Ghana) played today, it looks like that the US will continue their streak of not winning on European soil.

Woohoo, the Netherlands is third! Cool
The top three is correct. But I think France, Argentina, Côte d'Ivore and Italy deserve a higher spot on the list. Confused

the FIFA Ranking is messed up. they count all the games that you played over last 6 or 8 years.( i forget) you get points from winning friendly games too. you get tons points from world cup wins.
USA has more world Cup wins than France and Italy 4 years ago. if my memory is correct france got 0 win on the last world cup. hard to rank France any higher if they don't have good wins to show for.

i think japan is done. there is no way in hell they can get a draw or a win against brazil, unless brazil doesn't want to play.

USA is done too i think. there is nothing wrong with losing that game, but lost by 3 is not good. unless they can beat Italy.
