Gen's gonna lose his rank when the license for DBZ expires, and Toei buries it along with the rest of their library.

No, he will not lose that rank. He has relatives in Toei, and other big anime studios. How did you think a man with no previous credentials got a huge show like DBZ? |

Anime Buyer, Best Buy
I was in Best Buy the other day and surprised by the modest selection. I guess this side of mail order, it's the best you're going to find in retail. But to make the list with the selection they had is sort sad or at least it indicates Anime still has a ways to go in growth. td99 |

Where in the US are you? I've noticed that the anime selection at a particular Best Buy depends a lot on location. For example, some of the Best Buy stores in the SF Bay Area seem to have a pretty extensive collection. |

He didn't choose Conan over One Piece. He wanted them both, but 4Kids won what was apprentally a really intense bidding war for OP. There was far less demand to liscence Conan, since it was an unproven genre in the US (not to mention 800 million episodes long.) |

Hey media-blasters made the list for liscensing shows no one had faith in but fans: Berserk and invader zim, and soon Voltron and Gaogaigar, need to get them higher on the list for Berserk season 2 to happen!

I shop at Suncoast. It's in a more convenient location, and I think they're going out of business because they have a "buy-one-get-one-free" sale on all of their anime DVDs. EDIT: Why isn't Al Kahn on the list? |

I think his influence in the anime world is coming to an end as his company concentrates more on franchises they can own to themselves. |

Since when did Miyazaki work in the North American anime industry? I know he has influence, but it seems like he's outside the paramaters of the survey. And I like how "Anime Buyer, Best Buy" is some shadowy, unknown figure
 , but it's true; he or she controls what makes it onto shelves and thus what a lot of the "casual browser" types of fans buy.

While Miyazaki doesn't specifically work here, he has the highest grossing anime films on dvd. Plus his films are the only ones which can attract A(or at least B+) list celebrities to work at scale.
