Every Saturday in August, kids under 12 will be able to ride the system for free. On the final Saturday of the month, Viz will distribute 10,000 goodie bags with manga, anime, and posters.

Wow I can't believe this, this is certainly quite the marketing plan. I guess Viz thinks this is the way to get kids to know about manga, but then again in SF/Oakland you almost have to write the Transit to get anywhere.

I wonder how much this advertisement is going to end up costing, but also Viz's product line is going to be on the ticket to at a later point. At least Viz is being creative with their properties.
Till next time,

They must really want manga/anime to be the future since they're targeting kids. But at least they aren't doing the regular things. Very creative.

That depends, if the marketing is successful then that person might see a little extra dough roll their way. However if this turns out to be a bust then that person might be looking for a different job.

I hope that it is successful it's creative enough hopefully people will jump on the viz wagon.....

Of course it's a Gimmick! That's the whole point of doing that sort of advertising...to get people, or kids in this case, to buy buy buy!

I have to admit this might be a pretty good idea, although the 'under twelve' thing throws me since FMA especially, is really intense.

But the inclusion of Full Moon struck me as very random, if only because I didn't think it was at all one of their banner titles.

I was in SF earlier this summer and there were several ride-free days (where anyone and everyone could ride free) to entice people to ride trains and buses and leave their cars at home in order to cut down on pollution. It's a great system in my view, at least compared to most American cities.

As for the advertising campaign, well, I think it might work. The days that were free when I was there were pretty packed, but then again so were the roads.

I live right next to the second largest city (in the US) and I would love for someone to install a mass transit system, unfortunely previous (As in long ago) California governor/LA Mayor did not predict the huge wave of population that would attack the west coast. And so I pay for it everyday in my car while I am driving to work. But nonetheless it's a gimmick to make people BUY BUY BUY if you didn't buy that would be a failed market plan.

Anime smallmouth + sweatdrop I do not really think this would be a great idea ecspicaly with VIZ giving stuff like Manga volumes of manga like Inuyasha and Full Metal Alchemist and Full Moon do not be fooled by the cute artwork once you get into it Full Moon is pretty dark and besides i think the parents might freak out once they realise what there kids are reading. Smart! Extreamly smart... after all BART is all over the Bay Area... not jsut SF and Oakland... I'm going to ask my boyfriend (who uses Bart all the time) if he finds a Naruto, Pokemon, Inu-Yasha or Zatch Bell card if he'll save it for me to keep.
