Since this series has been and is still pretty popular with kids, it doesn't surprise me that they'd be using Conan for this program.

On Friday, a life-sized Conan attended a ceremony with the Tokyo Metropolitan Police and pledged to support the fight against crimes that target children.

Life-sized huh. So was it the kid version or the adult version? If it was a life size kid version, wouldn't that mean some lucky kid got to be Conan for a day?

I propose someone dressed as Scruff McGruff goes to Japan and battles the man in the Conan suit.

Shocked

I can't believe it. An anime that teaches kids to fight crime. Sounds interesting. When I have a wife and kids one day, I'll let my kids watch videos of Detective Conan (or I can let them watch fansubs Wink ).

Uhhh...

Well, if you don't have any problem with exposing your kids to all that gore and violence... granted, it's tame for Japanese standards, but that stuff's at least PG-14...

(I still love it though, but...)

I lol'd at that. Smile

This series could be interesting, but like minakichan said, it would probably be too violent for American children. At the same time, it might seem too cheesy for teenagers, including the hardcore Conan fans. In other words, chances are it won't be licensed, and fansubs will probably only get through the first few episodes.

You can get at least part of the program. Least the first five volumes.

...Wouldn't it be kinda ironic to show kids how to fight crime...by doing something that's technically illegal? Anime hyper

Anyway...Connan's cooler than McGruff. (...although some of those ads are pretty cool the first time you see them...)
