Neither. It will be n High Definition TV Broadcast. Blu-Ray and HD-DVD are just media storage formats.

I see. Kinda of a waste don't you think? Unless they aren't doing a true digital transfer?

Also I realize they are just media storage formats, but I kinda wanna know which one is gonna be used. If any.

How is this a waste? You are comparing apples and oranges Smile . What do you mean by them not doing a "true" digital transfer? And you want to know which format is going to be used for what? I just don't see how what the TV broadcast station is using should be of any concern to you.

If you are upset that the high definition version of "Porko Rosso" is not yet available on one of the consumer media formats then, chances are, it will be re-released within a few years.

I'm still confused as to why they're doing Pom Poko of all things, when Totoro is much more popular. Maybe this is an experiment.

It won't be true HD unless they use the film version to transfer into 1080i, or pfi. If they just upvert the NTSC master, it's not true HD. But really, how much sharper can a pencil line get? No one is going to see any more detail than was originally drawn in the first place. Not as if it was a real animal shot with HD equipment and viewed on an HD receiver, virtually seeing finer detail of every strand of fur.
