Now, does that mean:
A) a presentation on mature manga that adults can enjoy or B) a presentation for adults on manga (what it is, how to monitor, ect?) |

Frankly, I think adults enjoy anything adult lol. It said for parents so, yeah. Better to keep the parents informed.

It says parents because I hope to hook more of them into watching anime and reading manga. However if they only get exposed to what their kids enjoy they could be missing other cool stuff.
In other words the phrase 'for parents' is in one sense bait. I do plan to devote as much time as needed to answering their questions and informing them of things they may not be aware of. After all how many kids are reading such great titles as Worst, Vagabond, IWGP and Club 9. Of course I also hope to sell more copies of my books.  - imagine changing the U.S. demographic of anime/manga fandom to include a noticable amount of something other than the 14-24 year old male student.
A noble cause indeed. Actually, in the past four years or so I have noticed an increase in the number of "older" adults I see at cons. Unfortunately I still rarely see anything other than teens shopping in the anime/manga sections of stores and the few adults I do see are without exception shopping for or with a child and not really there of their own volition. |

Man I would love to see this discussion. Alas, I don't live in the area. To be honest parents need to learn a little more about the industry. You hear so much these days of parents going haywire about stuff that gets poured into their lap. Then stuff gets banned like crazy. It's important to get an understanding of the medium.
I've been watching anime for many years and by this time being an aunt an all, makes it easier for me to chat with my nieces and nephews who ARE exposed to such shows but don't know their origins. I'm all too happy to sit and explain if they're interested. Between knowing what 'Yugioh' cards are and explaining why not all demons are bad in 'Gash Bell/Zatch Bell', I guess I'd be considered a pretty cool aunt. But hey look how many years it took to get there. But I think people who understand the medium should try to get the message out and allow for parents to get a better understanding so they don't fly off the handle. This will make for better communication and decisions. Unfortunately, I don't think I would care much for my mother getting into anime. As she doesn't really care for cartoons that much. She has her moments. Though, she does watch all the animated films my niece watches so that's good enough. Maybe one day.
