Ninja Nonsense has been one of my surprise favourites this year -- it's unrelentingly silly and a delightful respite in-between watching more serious shows. Shinobu is far less annoying than her counterparts in other series, and her crush on Kaede is just soooo cute and compelling in its innocence. And, okay, it's fun to watch too. *smirk* (Maybe I only see it as fluffy and sweet instead of male-fantasy fodder because I'm female? Nahhh. It is adorable. Which is really quite a trick in a show that also features the monumentally pervtastic Onsokamaru. ;- )

I don't normally enjoy fanservice comedies, or overly moe characters, or just about any of the usual cliches that are featured in Ninnin Shinobuden, but everything just seems to work here. It's not classy, and the jokes occasionally don't work or linger too long, but it's unstoppable fun that makes you happy as you watch. And isn't that a wonderful thing? Smile

The main thing I take issue with here is that you have DVD 4, and I don't Evil or Very Mad But seriously, this comedy has lived up to the hype--it's naughty, hilarious, and enjoyable in the three-episode segments that the DVDs give us. One of the best English dubs for comedy I've ever heard as well--I generally associate RightStuf with competent, acceptable dubbing, but this one is stellar. However, the one production gaffe that I can't help but notice every time I watch the opening song is the subtitled line, "My power's at it's max." So, is that "my power's at it is max," "my power's at it has max," or most likely, "my power's at its max." I know it's nitpicking, but that's the kind of error I expect to see out of fansubs or maybe Viz, not from RightStuf.

I have to watch this show now. Not because the great review has grabbed me, but simply because according to the review there's a pretty stellar G Gundam parody which I just gotta see. But I have to watch episodes in order so I'll have to start at disc one. Thankfully it'll be a great ride.
