So what were the other C&D titles? I'm sure those are the future announcements.

Here's the article.

These titles are XXXholic TV, Ragnarok The Animation, Mushishi, Suzuka, Sakura Taisen: Le Nouveau Paris and ATASHIn'CHI (Not clear if the C&D refers to the Movie, TV series, or both).

I'm really looking forward to Mushishi most of all.

Funimation has sent a cease and desist letters regarding fansubs of number of titles that had not previously been associated with Funimation. These titles are XXXholic TV, Ragnarok The Animation, Mushishi, Suzuka, Sakura Taisen: Le Nouveau Paris and ATASHIn'CHI (Not clear if the C&D refers to the Movie, TV series, or both).

At this time we have not been able to receive an official comment from Funimation regarding these titles. In the past, when Funimation has sent out C&D letters, they have informed us that the letters did not necessarily mean that Funimation had acquired rights to the properties in question.
Suzuka has already been DVD-solicited (man that sounds dirty), but I'd say it's a good bet we'll hear about other titles in that list. Or maybe something completely unmentioned before. At this point, it's all up in the Air Wink Or so I hope.

And on a sidenote, what's with all these "gimicky" licensing announcements? Why must they resort to mindgames, source-code messages, fake site-hackings, and other gaudy tricks just to outdo other companies? There was Sgt. Frog from ADV, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya from Bandai/Kadokawa USA, Rozen Maiden from Geneon, and now Funimation is poised to outdo them all during this January week. Why can't people be satisfied with good old-fashioned convention reports or press releases in a standard, easily-readable font that is compatible across all computers and web browsers? I'm going to have to go with Zalis. These clever games with announcements are cute but when EVERYBODY Rolling Eyes starts doing it...puh leese!

I'm absolutely hoping and praying that Tsubasa & xxxholic will be two of the titles. I can't wait to see those! Well, actually I've seen some of Tsubasa and the xxxholic movie...two of my very rare cases of buying bootlegs...But I WANT to be a legitimate member of society, I really, really do!

Ragnarok is just licensed and the DVDs are due out this fall. Tsubasa is licensed over a year ago and it's DVDs still aren't out.

I'm getting impatient here.

Those two announcements were actually perfectly in the spirit of the shows they represent, especially Haruhi's.

That makes two, ever since the C&D letter I've been waiting for Funimation to announce Mushishi. I checked out a few episodes back when it was being fansub and the episodic feel was nice. I am hoping that Mushishi can pull off a whole year. Judging by the ratings I believe that it probably does.

Out of the titles on the C&D list, I've only seen Ragnarok The Animation. And out of the titles on that list, I'm looking forward to that license the least.

On the other hand, I hear great things about Mushishi.

^ I think the article forgot to mention Peach Girl and School Rumble, because those are also new licenses of Funi.

I'm looking forward to Mushishi, Peach Girl, School Rumble, and XXXholic!
EDIT: Also Beck!

The companies are looking for new ways of raising excitement because not everyone goes to conventions or the like. Will it work, who knows but it does generate buzz, more so than the normal announcement.

Ugh! Never buy bootlegs especially when you could have scored a fansub for free. And for $50, you could pay for a DVD player that will play said fansub on your TV. Then have the fansub carry you until FUNimation's most excellent release.

That said, Tsubasa has been licensed, both TV series and movie. I doubt they'd make a big deal of saying they'd scored the 2nd season since it isn't a sequel series but a continuation (meaning, the 2nd seasons wasn't called "Tsubasa 2" or something like that). The xxxHOLiC movie has been licensed, so I'm guessing a confirmation of the TV series would be next (although both titles are poor adaptations of the original manga).

I figure one of the announcements will be for an official release date for Slayers.

Congrats to Ragnarok fans but.......

I hope that there's more stuff ( surprises) to come. I mean if all they're going to do is announce the C&D titles then it's going to be a very anti-climatic week.

Given FUNi's tactic of sending out C&Ds to any anime they have their eye on, I'd say it's a safe bet that no suprises are going to come out of this little announcing spree.

Oh how I wish AIR was likely to be announced.

Is this anime based off the game or the manwha?

I'm interested if its the latter, not so much the former.

*yawn* I've no interest in this release. I hope the rest of the week bears more interesting news.

At this point, I don't think they've even officially announced Suzuka, let alone released anything about the DVD releases.

I'm not interested in any of those titles in the C&D, so if they are just confirming what has been mentioned in past C&D letters, then I won't be seeing anything I care about this week at least in licenses. They probably won't be announcing licenses every day though, so I expect to here some release information on some of their other titles. I am interested in the Slayers and Marmalade Boy re-releases as well as School Rumble, so any informaion on those will be nice.

There are a number of titles I'd love to here them announce, but most of them are unlikely to be licensed. I'd love to hear that they saved Ouran from Viz, or licensed Nanoha, Simoun (which I haven't seen myself, but looks interesting and I've heard good things about), Kanon, or Maria-sama ga Miteru, but none of those have good odds of getting licensed. I could see FUNI getting Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni (though it seems more like an ADV or Geneon title), Shuffle! or Negima!?. I think that pretty much covers all of the titles I'm interested in that aren't practically guaranteed to go to Bandai (case in point: Code Geass).
