You're right about the back of the book. I picked this up in the store a little while back, and upon reading the back of the book made me think that this series just another "meh" manga. After reading this review though, I'm gonna go back and pick this one up when I get the chance. Sounds like a great manga.

I glanced through the first volume at the store the other day and it looks interesting. I intend to get this series some day, but it will be after I've finished off some of the series I'm currently collecting.

You have no idea how many times I would walk past this manga when I went to the bookstore, pick it up, read the back and put it down. It took me quite sometime to actually flip through it like, "Oh... o.k., wow."

I hope you enjoy it when you do read it Smile

I snagged it simply because Mizushiro Setona wrote it... and I have YET to find anything she's written that disappointed me.

And once again she WTF??ed me and draged me forcibly into Ichijo's life, school and nightmare!! *applauds*

yeah, I'm currently reading it. It's reallly interesting. Go!Comi is a relatively new publishing company but they have some interesting titles. Another good series published by them is Canterella, a historical fantasy take on Cesare Borgia, a historical figure from the Italian Renaissance period.

I actually HAVE seen this on the shelf somewhere, looked at the back... and put it back down, because the bold print sounded so lame. After reading this review though, I think Ill pick it up.

I hated this manga and I like cross-dressing/gender play stories.

None of the characters are likeable. The story is overwhelmed by the drama surrounding the lead "males'" gender issue. It went too many directions at once and it all went pretty badly. Toss in a clingy "girl-friend" wannabe and it gets even worse.

Give me gacha gacha, at least the fanservice is good in that.

LOL, yeah that pretty much sums up the story for me too. Hmmm... perhaps I should look up what else she has written. If all of her works are on the "WTF did I just read, god I want more" level then I'm sure to enjoy it ^__^

Well this review certainly piqued my interest. I'm going to have to toss it into one of my future orders. The nightmare world & the surrounding 'rules' definitely seem interesting. And at only 6 volumes (that's what it says in our encyclopedia, so I assume it's not still ongoing...) it certainly seems worth the time. I could always use another short series. Wink

I'm glad that Afterschool Nightmare is getting more notice. I always felt this was one seriously underrated series. I was planning to get it in Japanese because of the dreamy art but when of Mizushiro-sensei, but then I saw it was going to be release in the US, I pretty much jump at the chance. But I do agree that the back description is pretty lame but, luckily for me, I very rarely read the back anyway (I rather read the book with absolutely no clue of what going to happen in the volume). I brought all 3 that are released so far and this is one of the rare titles that I really despise the 3 Month Wait for.

Also to note that ASN is up for an Einser as well. I hope it does win and bring more fans into it because, so far, it deserves it.

But one bad thing about this review is that I felt it was a bit too revealing in some areas that borders on spoiling (about Kureha and Sou). But it was great overall.

This title also prompt me to looking for X-Day, which is going to be tough to find since Tokyopop's license expired for this title.

Well, Border is having a 'Buy 3 Books, Get 1 Free' sale for GNs, but it's only for Tokyopop titles.

Really? I give you that character aren't made to be too likeable and I kinda like it on its own in a way. Considering this story is about Mashiro's dealing with his sex, it will be focus on it considerably. But I have to really disagree that it went in too many directions. I find it very straightforward and not confusing at all. Of course it have some subplots, but it is only the first volume. And Kureha was a really good reason of why she acts that way, which makes you feel pretty sorry for her.

I just read it last night at Barnes & Noble. I brought it with me to read before seeing Fracture along with Yakitate!! Japan vol 2 and Kashimashi vols 1 and 2. After finishing Yakitate, I had about 20 minutes before the movie, so I thought I'd start reading After School Nightmare to pass the time before buying my ticket. I ended up missing the movie because I couldn't put the book down. At least I still had the Kashimashi volumes left over to pass the time. Anime smile + sweatdrop

You're review was spot on. It's one of the best first volumes I've ever read! It would definitely get an 'A' in my book. Fortunately B&N had volume 2 in stock, so I picked it up while I was there.

Awwww, thank you for the comment about my review. I'm glad you enjoyed the manga so much (but I'm sorry you missed the movie!). There are actually 3 volumes out, I saw volume 3 at Borders yesterday. If I wasn't in such a hurry I would've read it, but alas... *tear*

You're welcome. Very Happy

I thought I said that I was going to see Fracture, but I digress. It doesn't really bother me. I can always catch it another time. ASN #1 was just soo good. I think I might give X-Day a try now as well.

Yeah, I saw that the third volume is supposed to be out by now. B&N didn't have it though. I actually got volume 1 at Borders on the 21st (which was their last copy!), but they didn't have volume 3 (or even 2) at the time. I guess I'll just have to keep an eye out.
