Oh, dear God.

You know what this means, don't you?

When you meet Japanese otaku as tourists abroad.... you'll see what I mean.

To abunai: this is not from Moetan but another book, Maritan Shuuchuu Drill Ninensei (まりたん集中ドリル2ねんせい). The protagonist Maritan is supposed to be a US Marine... Rolling Eyes

WARNING: The first link contains VERY strong profanity.

I do have to ask...how many times in mainstream English conversation do they expect to say the phrase "you are already dead" to make it into an instruction point.

I mean, do they believe this is a typical day at the office in the US:

Hi Fred.
You are already dead, Bob.
Oh, you noticed? Thanks.

How'd it go with Marilyn last night? Wink
Well, Bob, I whispered into her ear those magic words, "You are already dead" and she was putty in my hands.
You dog, you. You are already dead.

Hey, watch it...the boss's coming over.

Fred, Bob, I have bad news. We were looking at the payroll for the next year, and...I really don't know how to break it to you, but...I might as well say it... You are already dead.

W--what? You are already dead?
Yes.
Smile

Excerpt from Moetan 3, "Bill and Sam's Excellent Adventure" (original in English):

Quote:
Bill: Wow! You can buy fanzines in places other than Akihabara and Ariake!

Osamu: Yes, you can. There are a lot of specialty stores here in Ikebukuro.

Bill: Hey Sam, Let's go to that store first!

Osamu: Hmmm, well OK. But actually, the stores on this street are a little difficult for us to go into.

Bill: Really? Why? Do they have high-end versions of this kind of store?

Osamu: No, it's not that. I think that if the two of us go into that store, a not-so-good simulation may start up.

Bill: Simulation? What kind?

Osamu: Well, like "Which character should we set to pitcher/catcher," or "Do we choose hetare-seme or sasoi-uke"...

Bill: Is it something so important?

Osamu: Of course! That's the most important thing in the world to those girls!

I would rather have Maritan...that way I could laugh my ass off while not thinking about crappy otaku dialogue >_>. Also, the Maritan CDs had good English....

I'd already seen it, but thanks for linking to it again.

Requires knowledge of Ikebukuro and fujoshi to understand just exactly how funny this is. But having that.... ahahahaha.
